This is one of the saddest parts right? It was the hard work of previous generations that made HK a great city. Now these younger kids are waving US and UK flags and throw their parents, grandparents under the bus. These countries never helped HK before, why do you think they can/will help you now?
To appeal to their western Christian friend that they too can be "civilized through Jesus".

Yes, it's breaking my heart. Just think, people like us standing under the mid-day sun for two buckets of water to build this great city. And then spoilt brats like them come along to destory it....... because the world is "unfair", and they can't have it they own way!

Only two years ago, PLA was formally requested to assist in disaster relief by Macau regional government.

Garrison was deployed in "combat" uniform, which showed confidence in local support.

This might seem like a small detail, but it is not. Not sure where these decisions are made in the PLA chain of command, but usually a local commanding officer can dictate "dress of the day". If they had felt combat uniform would send a bad message, they can authorize PT gear like sweats.

In HK, standard orders are for any military uniform not to be worn outside of barracks unless for some kind of event. This is pretty extreme, as it is pretty typical for any military personnel to go out in uniform to make a coffee run or some other thing like that. However, since PLA presence is so sensitive for some HK people, they are obviously erring on the side of caution.

Yes, a country's own soldiers shouldn't have to hide away their uniforms because it might offend certain members of the public! You don't get that anywhere in the world!

The recent rewarding of Macau may be sinking in. I don't know what Hong Kong thinks of the ex-Portuguese colony, but I suspect that HKers look down on Macanese.

Now there is the very real prospect of Macau someday growing bigger than HK -- with a strong, competitive financial center. Don't laugh: remember that Shenzhen was just a fishing village a few decades ago, and now it has an economy bigger than HK's, and its lifestyle is possibly better (nobody is sleeping in cages).

Yes it's very sad for me to say this. The importance of Hong Kong has diminish significantly due to China's rise. The GDP of Hong Kong was approx 1/6 of China's at the time of the handover. It is now approx 1/30.

The only importance Hong Kong plays is now in geopolitics. And that is only because of foreigners using it as such. Often using it as a pawn in the grand scheme of things!

It is sad that the pan-dem refuses to see that they are being played. And thinks their antics WILL enticed the foreigners in to help them. They are doomed to failure, as no foreign forces, even one as powerful as the USA would sacrifice their sons and daughters for their cause!

All these bills they are passing it's just smoke and mirrors. As it is now, the foreigners will play up to their cause and give a false impression the foreginers will come to their aid anytime soon. But as soon as Trump gets his trade deal done. They will be dropped like a led zepplin. Quicker these thugs reliase this the better it is for everyone.

They won't understand it .. they are mostly the losers, who couldn't find good jobs
