Have you ever noticed in cop shows and movies when there is a car chase the pursuing car driver blasts away with a handgun but never hits anything? That's because he's sitting on the WRONG side of the car (the left) for a usually right handed person to aim properly. In fact that's why we do it the other way round this side of the pond. In the days of stage coaches travelling between towns and cities (pre industrial revolution, well let's face it pre America!), the custom was to pass a carriage or rider coming the other way to their and your right, so that if they had hostile intent you could draw your sword or flintlock with your right hand to defend yourself.

Americans drive on the right because of the Teamsters, back in the day, they drove a cart and horses by riding one of the team of horses on the left, as the cart usually had no seat (Hollywood make believe again). You'd sit on the left to hold the reins in your right hand predominantly and so the custom to pass others to your left became established. Now you know!

And now I know! Thanks for the info! I had no idea.

My earlier comment was my go-to joke when I meet a British. I apologize if I've offended you in any way.

Congrats. We recently got a Camry as well and our old car is a Camry model 2004. It keeps going like the energizer bunny.

We had a '03 Camry. We gave it to an adult daughter..today in fact...That thing will run forever. It has 158,000 miles(254276km) on it. The only major issue was the starter went out a couple of times. But now it has a OEM(orginal equipment manufacturer) starter. That too will last forever.:D

Not a Problem! Some people get confused by the British Manner, we insult our friends as a term of affection but call you 'friend, mate or pal' as a final warning we are about to unleash hell on you! If we really like you, then like a shy teenager we will ignore you completely!

Yesterday we bought a 2017 Toyota Camry SE online. This morning we went to pick up our new ride. It only had 8036 miles (12933km) on the odometer when we picked it up. Very nice car.

By the way, not sure if you've noticed, but your steering wheel is on the wrong side... :p:D:eek:

Lol! Not as bad as some dutch guy I met whilst on holiday in France. We were in a camp site, and every day he come by going to the wash room. We talked and got quite friendly.

Then he said how was i. Puzzled I asked why? He said I obviously been in an accident, as my steering is not in the right place! Lol

When my father returned to Nz in the early 80's he bought the 6gen Toyota Corona. We replaced the engine in it 10yrs ago with 380 000 kilometers on the clock. It stii goes with the odometer curently showing about 615.000k.The only thing wrong with them was the timing belt breaking at around the 80000k mark..At the same time when we were replacing the engine in the Corona he bought a Toyota Rav4 which i understand is a Camry engine..The odometer is at 254000 and is still on the original starter motor.
