I do get a sense that this "change of tactics" as the BBC were calling it this morning, is more of a response to the situation rather than a "tactic" let alone furtherance of Strategy.
It looks as though the rioters have lost the battle for the streets and are now holed up on Campuses.
This is military terms is a retreat and a clear sign that they have failed to capture a major objective, ie the hearts and minds of the Hong Kong citizens.

Best bet is let them sit there till they lose heart, turn of the power and water and give them some loud music.
Wait for them to give up and try to avoid a Chinese Waco!

OMG! What idiots! Do they think the police drive tricycles?

Looks like protestors killed someone with a brick.

Yep, just heard it on ITV lunch time news............ as a afterthought! No condemnation, nothing. It was almost like they were embarrassed to even have to report it, and the news quickly moved on to protestors against Hong Kong, blah blah blah!

I mean if this had happened in the UK, especially if its committed by a religious group, you would guarantee there be an outrage! (and we all seen this pouring of outrage, I wont go into details of who I'm talking about).

Also, on the same news, a Hong Kong "pro-China" politician was pushed to the ground while in the UK. Chinese foreign ministry put the blame squarely on the UK government for encouraging the riots in Hong Kong by publicly backing the rioters! (couldn't agree more)!

So the thugs can burn, blockcade, intimidate, attempted murder and assassination. And now they can add actual muder to the resume/CV. And the western nations still support them!

I hope there's more of the people of Hong Kong attacking these protestors. It's nice to see the other way around where they're being outnumbered and ganged-up on. I want to see it at least to the point where hypocrites overseas are calling for something to be done to end the violence against protestors.

Oh let's use the faintest of logic like the protestors... The school shooter in Southern California yesterday was a 16 year old Asian male who wore all black including a baseball cap. It's usual that the media is giving scant information on the shooter.

That "something else" is to go after the judges who keep releasing the arrested rioters. If the thugs continue coming back, there is little point in chasing and arresting them. So Hong Kong must find some way to throw the violent people in the slammer for a long time, preferably for years.

The rioters can't riot if they're in jail. If the judges do their jobs, the cops can start eliminating violent cockroaches from the streets. It's likely that the CIA already has groups of backup rioters. But if the thugs continue to be taken off the streets, eventually even the backup gangs will run out of people. Then the CIA will have to recruit. And this recruiting activity will expose the CIA's operatives.

If the judges start doing their jobs properly, the riots will end. That is how important it is to force them to do it.

So we're back to the question of the people's power. And they do have power. If they gather by the millions to denounce the thuggery and support Beijing, eventually even the most resistant judges, feeling public pressure, will begin to do their jobs. And then the riots will stop.

I totally agree. I think the government believes they are in a catch-22, they don't want to seem like they are overstepping their bounds.

That being said, in any country, they always find ways around this to get the result they need. Something like create a "special emergency court" or something. Stack the judges with ones that are more likely to give harsh sentences, increase CCTV coverage to ensure capturing the violent actions.

Yes, they have retreated to the Chinese university in what was "ma liu shiu" (a villeage i know too well) that was built in 1963.

Unfortunately, to get there there's really only one road to get in and out. Though there are other ways to walk in and out.

There is a MAJOR north/south motorway runs through/nearby. This means there are bridges and walkways over this important road. The rioters have used these to throw things onto the road and disrupt traffic!

Anyway, in another forum, posters there have suggest shuting down of main utilities. As the thugs inside the campus decleared "independence". And "passport" checks at all entrances. Lol

Also, they have lots of supplies inside, mainly supplied free of charge by Parknshop, a well established chain in Hong Kong (I will never set foot inside those shops ever, I swear) as the owner support the rioters!

Anyway here's videos and photos inside the campus.

Something that has always sat weird with me about these riots is that the terrorists wear black t-shirts and you can see their arms are so skinny they look like the type to get shoved into lockers 3 times a week at school. If someone like that got in my face, I couldn't even take him seriously; I'd think some asshole frat was putting this nerd up to it (which is probably an extremely accurate analogy in this case). When they get violent in a group, it looks like an anime convention gone wild; my eyes see it but my head is still trying to wrap around what I'm looking at... I guess the best comparison would be how your brain feels if it were to see an 85 pound 12 year old Asian kid with glasses wearing a dew rag, XXL t-shirt, fake gold chains, tattoos covering both arms, come-up to you and spit slang and curses in your face.

Lol, Manqiang, you crack me up!
