Summary
Thank you for following the blog today and for all your comments. Here is a summary of the day’s main developments.

  • Boris Johnson has until 11pm to request an extension to Brexit from the EU after losing a vote on an amendment tabled by Oliver Letwin. The Letwin amendment, which puts a brake on Brexit, was passed by 322 votes to 306.
  • The prime minister insisted he would “not negotiate a delay with the EU, and neither does the law compel me to do so”. Jeremy Corbyn told him he must comply with the law and the SNP’s Ian Blackford warned Johnson could end up in court.
  • The leader of the house, Jacob Rees-Mogg, said another meaningful vote would be held on Monday. But the Speaker, John Bercow, indicated he might not allow this as it would be “curious or irregular” attempt to “invalidate” the result of today’s vote.
  • Bercow also indicated that he could write the letter to the EU requesting an extension if instructed to by a judge or MPs. No 10 has yet to clarify whether Johnson will send the letter.
  • The People’s Vote campaign claims 1 million people have joined a march in London demanding they get a say on any Brexit deal. John McDonnell, Caroline Lucas and Anna Soubry were among those who addressed the crowds after the parliamentary vote.

Is it breaking news when it has over 1600 comments? Maybe I'm not suppose to post this because it might get someone upset...

Yeah Steve Bannon humiliated out of Europe and now he wants to team up with the cult that believes aliens cursed humans with science and corrupted humanity. Yes cults just want to eliminate any kind of independent thinking that requires an intelligence so people just blindly follow. Steve Bannon wants to outlaw science in China so China is not a threat

More arrests: A man and a woman, both aged 38, were arrested Friday in northern England on suspicion of trafficking and manslaughter according to Essex Police. The 25-year-old Northern Irish truck driver, identified as Mo Robinson, remains in custody.

Post-mortems begin: Autopsies begin on some of the 39 people found dead in a refrigerated lorry trailer in Essex. Police are also working to identify the victims.

Chinese nationals: Police have said the eight women and 31 men inside the truck were Chinese. However, China contests the claims, saying it is "not yet possible" to confirm the victims' nationalities.

Unless they found passports on the bodies, I don't see how they can claim they are Chinese nationals, and if they did find passports, China would not be contesting the claims.
