Old lady pulled the victim under the umbrella for mob lynching. Very Organized and premeditated. The victim was at wrong place and wrong time as lynching was premediated.

Those two bitches got no humanity in them. The lady that got attacked was only clearing up the barricade set up by the rioters to cause havoc to innocent motorists.

And noticed, that not just this clip, but on others as well. As soon as a beating is imminent, a shout goes up saing open umbrella! Presumably to hide their thuggish behaviours.

I wonder if the west will still trying to call it the umbrella movement as if its something nobel!

Another lady got harassed for taking pictures and the reporters did nothing.

I know the "umbrella movement" keeps using their umbrella to hide their beatings. But sometimed, like this video, and others the reporters have seen, filmed, and are fuly aware of all these beatings. BUT, why is it we never see any of these in the MSM?

Is it the journalists on the ground not bothering to send in their reports, or their bosses under the directions from their respective governments will not print what's been reported?

The MSM reporting is this incident as a result of escalation of confrontation with little to no commentary on actual event and accompanied by pictures of police firing tear gas and pepper spray.

Usual standard of reporting. Thing is, if this happens in the USA or UK, the MSM will be all over this, and riots will be over in next to no time!

Dr Cheung Chi Hang's medical license should be revoked for his part in brutal assault of off-duty police officer.

What gets me is this public servants are quite happy taking their paycheques from the very government and city they try to destroy!

It gives new meaning to the phrase 食碗面反碗底!

Apple daily, known locally as poison apple. Doing its propaganda best to manipulate the news. It even now trying to entice school children by offering free copies of their trash! View attachment 54679 View attachment 54679

It's unbelievable and unfathomable that any country would allowed a foreigner with a deep hatred towards that country to take control of such important part of the propaganda machine!

Its with good reason media is known as the 5th armed force!

And just think, the traitor Jimmy Lai, who was born in China, fled China to Hong Kong. All the time his hatred to CCP-China never diminish. So now he peddles his anti-CCP propaganda all the time through his media empire, but all the time retained his get out clause if things get bad. He will simply upstick and goes to Canada, having obtain Canadian citizenship by money! While the rest of his troops will have to live with a broken Hong Kong that he started and encourage!

This is why I believe anyone in Hong Kong in a position of responsible position should have to give up dual-citizenship. So they are in the same boat as everyone else!

Unless, it's all intentional.
I have been saying this many times. It does hurt me to say this. I have stated my opinions a long time ago, but it was shot down quite harshly by a lot of patriotic HK'er (i presume) in this forum. I understand their sentiment, and I know this will hurt their feelings deeply.

A person like Deng Xiaoping has gone through a life time of war, be it actual hot war or internal power struggle. He is not stupid to put out the 1C2S system which even an average graduate of a political science master's degree could foresee its fatal flaws. Deng Xiaoping is a military commander and general. He is not an ideologue. He thinks in terms of cold calculated game theory. He thinks in terms of possible scenarios on a strategic level. When he negotiated for the return of HK in the 1980s-1990s, China has yet to even prove itself to be able to sustain its own economic growth. The terms he stated was 50 years. Think about this. On a strategic level, what would be the worst case scenario for China when 50 years passes?

The worst case for China at the 50 year point would be if HK, under the British common law system of governance, was able to sustain much larger growth and advances into a high-tech futuristic city state, while the mainland stagnates and lags behind more and more in every way.
This is because, if HK have been on the trend of surpassing mainland in terms of growth and development for 50 years of 1C2S:
1. The CCP would have lost all legitimacy as a form of governance, it would have proven itself to be ineffective and obsolete,
2. HK would have an even stronger voice and greater influence on the rest of China than Beijing.
3. 1C1S would have been something very unfavorable to the CCP at the 50 year mark. The CCP would either plead to prolong the 1C2S, or to be forced to remodel mainland after HK at the mark.

This is why I think it is in Deng Xiaoping's favor and in China's favor for HK for fail. And use HK as an counter-example to strengthen Chinese patriotism/nationalism and Chinese people's faith in PRC's socialist system, to showcase a failed HK vs a successful mainland. You guys might think this is draconian and cold-hearted. But for a true patriotic leader who love his fellow people and his nation, he would be righteously selfish. HKer's are as much Chinese as mainlanders, in the heart of most Chinese, they do believe this. But political leader don't think this way. HK, which is model after another civilization, with a totally different (and competing) form of governance/political system, will always be considered an outsider by a political leader.

And thank GOD, the democrats in the USA are inadvertently helping China by passing that Law. Because if you read the details of that Law they pass, the only meaningful punishment entailed was to strip HK of its special status in deal with the USA. This will further reduced HK's comparative advantage, which will see the city drop lower and lower, falling more and more behind.

Recently I read some Chinese articles which actually spelled out the same points I made. One of those made a very good analogy. The author says that HK is pretty much a "Honeypot", a terminology in computer security.

Interesting weekend I've had. I was hanging out with some Republican friends I hadn't seen in a while and I had to hear their version of the world. But not as weird having to argue with a liberal today. He was pro-Hong Kong protestor and not surprising admittedly knows little about Hong Kong except for what US news was reporting and how the there was no violence except from the police. I had to break it to him there are many videos he can choose from on the internet of protestors attacking civilians just for not agreeing with them. He refused to even look at them because his word was final and didn't need to see videos because he believe anyone who choses the side of the US has to be following all the principles of Western democracy and freedom. He said if there are videos, they're all staged and fake videos by Beijing. He was telling me how I was making assumptions that they were protestors attacking innocent people and I said like you're making assumptions admitting knowing little of the situation? Then he told me how dictatorships have a history of faking attacks by groups that oppose them and then he said it happened during Tiananmen Square where there were "all these videos" everyone could see. I told him I never seen any propaganda videos claiming protestors were the ones that instigated violence because there was no internet back then to see such videos. In his desperation to win against me he forgot there was no internet to see any fake videos by the government out there to claim it was happening then. Any fake videos to make such a claim, it was controlled by the MSM media putting it out there. The MSM is not showing the other side of what's happening in Hong Kong now. Why would they show Chinese propaganda back then when they were in control if that information was released to public? I caught him on his flub so he them claimed I was brainwashed by the Chinese government. And I said like you where all you're doing is following stereotypes when admittedly knows little about the history of Hong Kong.

Your experiences mirror so much of many Chinese living overseas. It is typical standard response from these morons!

I remember one discussion I had, I managed to knock every arguments he put forward, a bit like your experience. And in the end, he just come out with: "well, you are just a CCP apologies and sympathiser!"
You can't make it up!

I think it is both. Pretty much political correctness at its best, it is not ok to share certain thoughts and feelings. Because ccp is bad and democrats are good.

looks to me like the protest is petering out, there might still be bursts here and there but it is undoubtedly losing momentum.

I must say I am not surprised at all by how this unfolded, the protest's defeat was pre-ordained. There was only one narrow but logical path towards victory for these protesters, that is to inspire mainland dissidents to echo their call for democracy and freedom. That path, however, closed early on as they turned violent and xenophobic, there by handing the CCP an easy PR win to its domestic audience.

Quieting down prob due to HK holding elections in a few weeks, don’t want get too extreme to lose public supports rocking the boat for some politicans. Also Taiwan presidential election in Janauary 11, 2020 so still plenty of time for protestors to play opinions game.

As for mainstream media on geopolitics, read this article:

To sum it up, mainstream medias are being controlled by the big three news corps: Reuter, AFP & AP, while all others parroting back the same news with mild editing to look like independent reporting locally.
