Someone asked earlier why is that China seems to be able to build new ships from domestic designs much faster than modifying old ships such as the CV16.
It's quite logical if you think about it. If you design something yourself, you know it inside and out, of course it's going to be faster when you build it. If you modify an existing ship or design, you have to first figure out why it's designed this way, where everything goes/fits, and how you want to modify it to suit your own needs. It's like decorating a new house versus an old house, in the latter case you'll probably have to strip off the paint on the walls, remove unwanted furniture, change out the floor tiles or chop down some trees before you can do the real work of decorating.
