Hong-Kong Protests

Here is an idea, why couldn’t the police use tranque guns and darts, en mass?

Rather than wasted their time with their teargas and water cannon, while the rioters are well equipped to resist thanks to foreign forces, shoot them all with tranque darts to make it easy to arrest them en mass.
Cuz "muh democrazy freedom and stufff".
No. Seriously, any political system can thrive only if there is rule of law. Securing the rule of law is the law enforcement apparatus - called Police.
Any thriving country- democratic, communist,Authoritarian or otherwise need a strong polic force enforcing the law.
What you see in HK is the result when people decide to confront the police en-masse; the police themselves being forced to fight with hands tied.

Some members here seem to be frustrated by how much these kids are going overboard with their wanton destruction and violence. NO USE.
Keep posting the incidents without fail.I must ask the Chinese members here to consider downloading all the facebook videos and storing it in your hard-drive and making it available through a video hosting service that is based in China neutral regions.

And please spare the " Why is the western MSM so ignorant or biased of these incidents. Why don't they report it with the same vigor as they do for anti-china or anti-CCP material?" type remarks.
It makes you look weak and whiny. Do understand that there is nothing wrong with the MSM of the west. They are simply following through with what they have been entrusted to do - be a pillar of western soft power and carry out religiously its neo-propaganda and play into the confirmation biases. Not many people in the west trust their MSM...why should you ?
or are you thinking that the people under the influence of these MSM can be convinced of the cold Grey truths about China? That is naive.

The Big three Global news agencies - Thomson Reuters, Associated Press, AFP are as unbiased as it gets BUT they tend to tread carefully when challenging the official government positions of some nations.

These news sources are unbiased to certain extend (these are Global news sources and must be considered as a different breed to CNN, Fox, DW, ABC etc) But you'd be fooling yourself if you believed me when I say that they tend to be unbiased in international news too.
No news is unbiased. NONE.

control, the Chinese Academy of Sciences said.

The rifle-shaped instrument, which was jointly developed with military and law enforcement, is designed to disperse crowds using focused waves of low frequency sound, the academy's Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry website said on Wednesday.

The device’s “biological effect” would cause extreme discomfort, with vibrations in the eardrums, eyeballs, stomach, liver, and brain, scientists said.

Here's additional clip of the old guy who got pulled out of the taxi and beaten up.

This is before he got into the taxi. He was pleading for his life, and even got on his knees to beg the mob to spare him. Yet, that thug in the reddish shirt, knee the old guy whilst he was on his knee. Is there no humanity left in these mobs?!

Here's a classic MSM manipulation of the news. Two local newspaper in HK, side by side, one reported what happened (as per my posts here), the other....... well, you can see for yourself, no guesses to see which one is propaganda and which one reported the truth!

Eastern paper headline: battlefield, rioters try to snatch gun.

Apple daily: police cleared area, strongly (chinese can mean forceful or brutal) arrested volunteers!

Sha Tin MTR station closes as Hong Kong protesters vandalise mall, desecrate flag

Crowd returns to Prince Edward site
At Mong Kok Police Station in Prince Edward, officers have retreated into the building but one is seen on guard outside, holding a gun.

A large number of protesters have returned to the scene, where riot police earlier cleared the crowd.

Protesters chant: "Five major demands, not one less."

The Hong Kong authorities when they arrest protestors should give them a bill or to their parents for the damages to the city based on how many people arrested. The only way they can lessen or get around this bill is to give up names on protestors especially the ones caught on video doing criminal acts. That way they all start turning on each other.

Someone mentioned that the main grievances for the protestor is about affordable housing, healthcare and baby formula. But looking through the various video clips, the protestors are mostly from comfortable middle-class to well-to-do families and the victims of the violence are mostly struggling and less fortunate people.

There is no excuse for this sort of senseless and random criminal acts in a modern develop and affluent society like HK. The only equivalent for this type of behavior was during the Nazi regime in Germany. The common characteristic then and now is the hatred implanted on them as protector of a superior being. Hate is so obvious from the facial expression and the language from these protestors. We are in deep deep trouble if these people are allowed to gain any position of power.

There are two groups of people but both want to overthrow the HK government. Most of those who got arrested(frontline protesters) are unemployed and lower-class teenagers. The more well-to-do protestors are usually playing supporting roles. I do agree that there are a lot of hate but other factors such as inequality, affordable housing, superiority complex(think they are better) and inferior complex(see that mainlanders are doing better) also play a major role.
