and Lai Chi Kok stations pending a hearing over whether the clips must be publicly released. On the night in question, baton-wielding police stormed Prince Edward station making arrests and deploying pepper spray. They ordered journalists to leave and later moved injured people to Lai Chi Kok station.

Kex Leung Yiu-ting, head of Education University’s student union, was arrested at Prince Edward station on the night and said he was beaten by police. Leung said he was passing through the station and was not participating in any protest.

Twitter closes thousands of fake news accounts, including 4,302 Chinese accounts targeting Hong Kong protests

Twitter said Friday it shut down thousands of accounts worldwide for spreading misinformation, including some artificially amplifying pro-Saudi messaging as part of a regional propaganda war.

The move affected pro-Saudi accounts coming from Egypt and the United Arab Emirates directed at Qatar and Yemen, Twitter said, as well as others from China seeking to sow discord among protesters in Hong Kong.

Additional fake accounts were suspended in Spain and Ecuador, Twitter’s safety team said.

The move is the latest in a series of actions by social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter cracking down on manipulation, often by state-controlled entities disguising their identities.

It follows similar moves by Facebook last month removing fake accounts based in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE for posting misinformation about Middle East hotspots and others involved in “coordinated inauthentic behavior” focused on Hong Kong.

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam will meet the public next Thursday for a two-hour “Community Dialogue” session, after promising to build a platform earlier this month for exchanging views on the political crisis.

Lam will meet 150 members of the public, who will be chosen randomly from a pool of applicants. Hong Kong identity cardholders are eligible to apply for the event, either through an online form or at Home Affairs Enquiry Centres.

Not the first time I have seen these censorship on social platform from the free press for no other reason that it deviates from their narrative and labeled conveniently as fake.

While the so-called "free" western media suppressed press freedom, ironic that a Russian hosted website had to be used to protect HK Citizens from these violent rioters. For those of us who are more observant and discerning, free western press has become so corrupt and bastardized that it is like a dirty word.

How accurate is this list?

One of them is apparently 12 years old!

Should be reliable. That 12 year old could be the 13 year old that police arrested earlier if you count his birthday by the lunar calendar. I also heard they had another list made on Apple daily staffs but some HK lawyer employed by Apple Daily had it removed from public in HK. Hosted by the same rus server.

Has anyone looked into this "Freedom HKG" organization that bought the ads?

Doing a simple "WHOIS" search online (FreedomHKG.net) shows that it was registered June 26

The crowdfunding page was established on June 24

My Chinese is not the best, but on their crowdfunding page, I believe it asks not to donate via PayPal because of anti money laundering preventing fund transfer.

, it says funds collected via credit card require 7 days clearing time before deposit.
Also on the crowdfunding page, it says that they were buying NYT full page ad for $200,000.

The ad was published by June 27

How is it possible that the ad would be published so quickly?
If the money was instantly collected, the earliest day funds could be transferred is July 1
Furthermore, I imagine that NYT requires approval and payment ahead of time for an ad, which would mean it would need to be done at least the 25th (This is a logical deduction since the paper printed on the 27th would be printed on the 26th, which is even before the website was established) This doesn't even include the time it would take to design the ad.

Now it could be possible that the payment was made before the crowdfunding, but what kind of "ordinary group of volunteers" (according to SCMP site:

) would have $200,000 lying around?

My research did not include looking at "LIHKG" in detail due to my lack of Chinese proficiency, so perhaps I missed something there.

Anyhow, TL;DR, the amount of money and speed of publishing almost guarantees state actors being involved.

I would also like to add that some of you are not being very fair to Chinese from Vietnam. They are people who suffered very greatly just because they are Chinese. Many of them are very proud of their heritage. Looking down at a Chinese person due to their national origin is just as bad as HK people who look down on Mainlanders, even if you do not agree with their opinions. Of course, this does not apply to those who say they are not Chinese (which many of the rioters say)

The reason I post this is because these riots tick me off personally. Over and over again I am reading in the Western Media about Fujianese being Triads and gangsters. These outlets spew out this despicable garbage and then turn around and criticize Trump for calling Mexicans rapists and criminals (as pointed out earlier in this thread). I myself am born and raised in Canada, but have family connections to North Point, and just because the neighbourhood is proud to be part of China, it is constantly portrayed like some kind of enemy territory.
