Why is PL15 a game changer in Region??

69553324_1360681554099591_4407266998434660352_n.jpg

PL15 is an advanced Beyond Visual Range Air to Air missile made by China with a range of 200kms to 240kms. With active Radar homing guidance and AESA radar built in.
It will be used by Chinese Airforce And Pakistan Airforce.

Pakistan has already Introduced it in service by putting it on JF17 Thunder jet.

Effective Play of PL15??

PL15 will be Equipped with JF17 Thunder block 3 which will have Aesa radar of 170kms and Rcs range of 210kms. While Major Frontline Aircraft of IAF will be Rafale that will have radar limitations upto 140kms and Rcs range of 160kms. Mean while JF17 thunder block 3 will also enjoy more better Electro optical Search and tracking systems with a range of 80kms while Rafael will again be limited with It EOSATS with range of 48kms. In all conditions JF17 thunder block 3 will detect Rafael first. Untill Rafael will detect Thunder it will already be Locked up by PL15.

Now How is PL15 a game changer ...

1)speed - PL15 will have a top speed of Mach 5 while most of BVR missile are limited to 3.5 mach or 4 machs. It will have Speed of Mach 3 even in its most glide stage. Meaning that PL15 will give a very little reaction time to it targets.

2)Active Engagement Procedure - PL15 has an AESA radar that will enable it to not only engage targat but also Electronically Attack its targets. While in air it will maximize the chances of kill in order of enermy Release Physical Defenses and change its pattern

3) Elections Jamming Resistance - PL15's AESA plays a very good role in this too. If enemy will try to Jamm missile then it will easily Switch between one frequency to another and will take minutes to enemy to recalculate it's Frequency.

Note: PL15 is already in service with PAF and Will inducted into Block 3 of thunder bird very soon....

The facebook link doesn't work. Where did you get this information from? If I'm not mistaken, these are the first performance parameter claims we've seen of the PL-15.

Latest Updates.....

Pakistan is integrating newer air-to-air missiles, acquiring Chinese CM-400AKG supersonic anti-ship missiles and modifying air-to-air refueling for the JF-17 fighters. A new deal for advanced Block III JF-17s has also been signed in May 2018. Pakistan now also boast the capability of complete overhaul of JF-17s and has recently completed overhaul of 02 of its JF-17 at home, in ARF, Kamra.

Former PAF pilot and defense analyst, Qaiser Tufail said:

“Bombs like the GB-6 K/YBS500, REK Mark 82/83/84 and H-4 will, therefore, be commonplace weapons in any future conflict. With a prospect of increased exports, the production of JF-17 has been increased from 16 to 24 per year with improvements like retrofit of AESA radars on existing Block I and II JF-17s are likely to follow after the Block III orders.”

Defence Updates- Pakistan/ JF-17 Block-III

Thunder Block III has been developed with the latest version of F-16 V Fighter Jet in mind as a benchmark. The new variant of JF-17 is being fitted with an AESA radar, helmet-mounted display and sight system.

The JF-17 is a 4++ generation multirole fighter aircraft being made in Pakistan with technology acquired from Chengdu Aircraft Co., of China. JF-17 Block III aircraft will also feature a new electronic warfare system, upgraded avionics including a three-axis fly-by-wire digital flight control system, and a helmet-mounted display and sight system.

The latest variant is expected to be powered by a better engine, as compared to Klimov RD-93 turbofan engine which has been fitted in Block I & II of the aircraft. The JF-17 Block III has an approximate combat radius of up to 2000 kilometers without refueling and can reach a maximum speed of up to 2500 km/h (without dropping fuel tanks).

The Block III version, which has been in development for over 2 years now is characterized by an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, helmet-mounted targeting system (HMS), an advanced targeting pod, data links and beyond visual range weapons. With its new integrated frontal infra-red search and track sensor the aircraft will have the capability for quick information sharing and network-enabled operations that facilitate earlier detection and interception of enemy aircraft.

The HMS system will allow pilots to aim anything in his/her sight. Whereas, the AESA radar will augment the jet’s capability, enabling it to engage from a longer range and attack multiple targets. The aircraft can alternatively be armed with air-to-air, air-to-surface, and anti-ship missiles. It will also be able to fire beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles (BVRAAM). An unnamed BVRAAM has already been test fired by the PAF a few months ago.

The Block III version of the Thunder will allow information sharing between the fighter and other platforms. This will increase the efficacy of the entire combat system in defending against strong adversaries.

The production of the aircraft is already underway. The Block III is expected to carry a price tag less than half the price of the latest generation F-16 V fighter jet and features, manauveraility and speed similar to that of the US aircraft.

...

Sorry to say so, but an overhyped, unrealistic and false report ... "a better engine, as compared to Klimov RD-93 turbofan engine", continues thru "an approximate combat radius of up to 2000 kilometers" andend with "can reach a maximum speed of up to 2500 km/h"... then I stopped reading.

I stopped reading when it claimed JF-17 as 4++ .... and it seems they can put anything on the aircraft... perhaps some days they'll find a way to fit a DF-31 on it as well.

Hi,

This is an interview with Air Vice Marshall Shahid Latif---top notch F16 pilot---program director of JF17---.

At 4:30 mins---he clearly states that the J10 was a design copy of the israeli levi and the chinese had the design---.

At around 8:00 minutes he states that the glass cockpit of the JF17 was more advanced than the F16's that pakistan had---when the Blk1 came out.

He further stated that when chinese talked about the J10A and it was a consideration---he made out a list of 50 major flaws in the J10A---.

The cockpit of the JF17 BLK1 was more advanced than the J10A's cockpit---accordingly when Gen Musharraf sat in the two aircraft---he was surprised at how advanced the JF17 cockpit looked than the J10A's cockpit---.

In one of his older interviews he had stated that how his team helped the chinese in modifying the J10A into a better aircraft resulting in the J10B and C---and then mentioned in a slip of tongue how another leading chinese aircraft had a lot of input from him and his team---.
