Here is some sizing up, using the features of the shipyard.

Approximate width of second hull is 32 meters. Which may also be very close to waterline width. Perhaps waterline is 31 or so meters.

Width of main deck level of first hull is around 36 meters. Length is harder to deduce as the ship is not complete. The green line for the length is equivalent of 219 meters in length, but there may be more ship added, or more ship underneath the gantry crane.
Forward lift is 18 m long. Rear lift is 14 meters wide, should be enough for two large helicopters to be lifted at once.

How does that compare to some other LHD ships?
US Wasp class is 257 m long. waterline beam is 32 meters. Main deck beam is 38.5 meters. Max displacement is 41 000 tons
French Mistrale is ~200 m long. waterline beam is 32 meters. Main deck beam is 35 meters. Max displacement is 32 000 tons

We don't know figures like height/number of decks nor draft, but using the above figures It would seem the rumors about 35 000 ton displacement were true. The ship may indeed end up displacing around that much.

As you say, the hull is not entirely finished. Given that, it’s more reasonable to look at planned carrying capacity.

The 075 is supposed to hold 30 large helicopters. The mistral only holds 16, and the Wasp can carry 30+, or 22+ Ospreys, which are even larger than large helicopters.

Unless China has found a way to much more efficiently store helicopters, the 075 should not be finished but needs to be a bit longer.

40 000 tons full load seems like a reasonable estimate - marginally smaller than the Wasp, but significantly larger than the Mistral, which the carrying capacity implies.

I just got back from Australia *saw their LHD* and as a visual point of comparison that ship looks like it's much lower. I can't imagine how much higher it would get once it gets out of dry dock but I can't imagine it would make a significant visual difference.

You have to put yourself in their shows. Surrounded by allies of your main rival; each ally has a formidable Navy and Sub-warfare capabilities. This rate of construction makes sense because the threat is severe and also a strong economy needs a strong Navy to secure trade routes.

I see their strategy as two-folds. 1st, build a strong Naval presence to dominate the first two islands chains and then 2; increase economic ties with US Allies (Japan, SK, Philippines, Australia).
A strong economic ties will lead to improve diplomatic relations with those nations, and improve diplomatic relations will mute the main reason why US has a significant military presence in the region to begin with.

At this point the PLAN can contest the 1st island chain with help from Russia to distract Japan and the US in the north but the PLAN would barely be capable of securing neighboring waters up to the 1st island chain even after all the ships it is currently building enter service.
