075 LHD thread

Well, with these pic...I am a believer. Looks like the PLAN has a large, and nice LHA/LHD. I am just surprised they did not make at least one of the elevators a deck edge elevator.
I thought deck edge elevator is only because of operation of STOVL which need the aft area for high load take off and also maximum operation area on the deck. Since IMO PLAN does not have the intension of STOVL (I am almost certain), there is no need for that arrangement. I know the RAN intends their Canberra class for F-35B without a deck edge elevator, but that is another story as RAN is not going or trying to match the capability of USN, so not much need for it either.

Yes, it is the model of 075 said to be seen in Qinghua university. Only difference is the elevator being off centre in the model.

Dude it doesnt even look similar.
The real 075 has a lot of sticking out parts on the hull.
Different elevators and conning tower...

That is equally true to all LHD/LHAs of any Navy, isn't it? There is no 100% guarantee of eliminating every missile of your opponent, in real life one has to take a reasonable risk in fighting.

Of course, agreed. But, it's one thing to risk a high value unit like a LHD against some Thirld World country that most probably can't hurt you, pretty much a MO of the USN in a last few decades- and something completely another is to send her into Taiwan Strait during an all-out war to make an invasion that you can just as well, if not better, do without her.

Actually, I never envisioned PLA deploying 075 for Taiwan, so it is really not a question to begin with. On this account I agree with your post #1147.

What I tried to say is LHD/LHA in general which takes away the context of the straight, that seems to have drifted away from post 1147's premises, the danger of long conversation.:D

Have you seen the 09III and 09IV models, compared them with the real things. How do they look similar?
How many "a lot" have you found? Everyone knows that a model (as a gift of sort) is not a blueprint for fabrication.
I have mentioned the elevator.
Can you put the side profile of the conning tower and the model side by side?

Each of the two chimneys look about the same size on a 052D. Are we expecting 4 QC280 for propulsion?
The rumour is that 075 is equipped with diesel engines. But I have the same feeling with you considering the big size exhausts. In any way 4 QC280/CGT25000 is over kill for a ship cruising at some knots slower than 055 with 4 GTs.

P.S. the model has two smoke stacks between the two towers. The real thing has not installed anything in that gap. It is better that we wait for some days.

P.S. again, the model shows 3 exhaust pipes in each smoke stack, in total 6 engines, IF we are to believe the model reflect the final design.

I searched my collection again and find this link from 2015-12-04 "

" which quoted a "Hudong Heavy Machinery" report of developing diesel engine 16PC2-6B for "两攻" (Amphibious Assault). See the screen dump in the link.

It is domestic version of S.E.M.T. Pielstick PC2-6B marine engine. It is rated at 12000kw. It is designed to match power plants of Mistral and Izumo.

This engine is NOW produced by "Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry", the first production unit was delivered in May this year.

I think the model is accurate in depicting 6 engine exhausts. 6*12Mw=72Mw, it is pretty decent for a ship of this size and speed (just above 20 knots)
