Not sure where you get this information. At I haven't heard any credible rumors like that.
But that number makes sense to me - I have always thought 6 LHDs + 12 LPDs would be the ideal config serving as the backbone of the first-generation PLAN marine force. They may need larger LHDs for the next-gen after acquiring more experiences and better vertical landing craft.

What would be on a 075A anyways?
075 is supposed to be in excess of 40 000 tons, meaning it’s at very least as big as the Wasp class LHD, and possibly same/slightly bigger than the America class LHD. These are some of the largest LHDs in service anywhere.
They’re already bigger than the Japanese CVHs by almost twice the displacement and similar in size to France’s sole aircraft carrier.
If they made bigger 075s follow ups, they’ll be near Liaoning sized. At that point, why even build LHD instead of aircraft carriers?

The most recent rumours I believe have suggested the full displacement of 075 is in the mid 30k ton range at most, possibly even the low 30k ton range.

so whats the consensus?
3 x Type 075 at 30,000 tons and 3 x Type 075A at 40,000 tons? I don't think these two units under construction are Wasp class size rather smaller like Hyuga class

The 075 we are seeing in drydock is smaller than wasp class, but I think it should be quite a bit larger than Hyuga.
