If Huawei can continue to use Android, I wonder what would be Hongmeng's fate this autumn? Will Huawei still launch it?

I would say at least do it for the Chinese market and collaborate with the other Android vendors including Samsung to push this OS.

No doubt China wants and needs to be completely independent of foreign suppliers. Hongmeng will foot the bill. Bitter lessons leant, China would not be blackmailed again. However if the supply chain is cheaper and reliable, why not do business with them. China will still develop Android like, but with faster speed and accuracy to support the 5G and 6G [now being developed]......

Nothing has changed. Trump can have a bad day and he'll impose more sanctions. Made in China 2025 is over because there's a truce? Trump is not the US govenment. Plenty of anti-China politicians in the US to deal with in the future so why stop? The so-called truce should have zero effect on any plans to break any sort of dependence on the US or anyone else.

but I thought Xi Da Da was saying before the China-US summit that the US must abolish the tariffs ALREADY IMPOSED before future talks can resume. Now it says no new tariffs only, what about the ones imposed?

I have no doubt they would still launch it ... it is already point of no return. I'd imagine now Huawei would give 2 options of 2 OSs or possibly can install 2 OSs and choose during the booting. It would be idiotic for Ren to NOT continue develop Ark OS

It feels so bad because the whole thing has turned out to be so unfair.

Huawei has suffered so much for it in terms of loss of sales and prospects and now Google can just simply reverse their decision and go along as if nothing has happened?

I see it somewhat differently; I think it is better for Huawei that the events happened earlier rather than later so that they would redouble efforts to have more secure supply chains and software.

The most recent projection from the company was that revenue would largely be flat this year compared to last, which is a small price to pay for having serious impetus for self sufficiency.
Even if US suppliers begin to do business again you can bet that things will never return to normal, and Huawei and other Chinese companies would know the need for having more reliable suppliers in future.

No, you got two things mixed up. Xi or China never said that all tariffs have to be scrapped before a talk can happen.

The "all tariffs must be removed" condition is for a final trade agreement.
