It is a bit of generalisation, but the chances that a person with a particular link to a particular country tends to be more sympathetic to that country's cause.

China is strangly unique in that, it had two factions claiming to be China, and when I was growing up in Hong Kong. If you are in one camp, no matter what the other side did, you oppose it just for the sake of it even it was good!

So some Chinese abroad will opposed to whatever happens in PRC China, simply because it is PRC China. I supposed you family and friends falls in that camp.

With regards to importance of birth and cultral links. Why do you think that in order to be POTUS, you have to be born in USA!?

He definitely fall in the naysayers category. I noticed this dude few years back and he is more on the negative and critical of China camp. Plus the mocking of 厉害我的国stuff, I seen many anti China trolls use that.

Not even sure what kind of people join political forums though so that's another question but off topic.

I have been here for a long time.
I have seen quite a few new members joining this forum, not to contribute, but to cast negative comments on anything and everything Chinese. YOU are one of them, no doubts about it.
I could be wrong but I have not seen you post significantly informative articles to further our collective knowledge.
And please, show some respect to our long time members. They know far more than you do.

Although I agreed with your post in general, I do think, however, we should be open to other opinons, otherwise we would all be here having agreements all the time, which is defeating the objectives of having a forum the first place

You keep posting MSM article critical of China and you said here the proof that China suck But those article are written by journalist that does not has any clue what they are talking about It more like they are talking from their behind based on ideology, prejudice, race superiority.

Oh, I hate to disagree with you on this point, Hendrik. BUT, these jounalist do know what they are talking about, more to the point, they know what they are doing and why they are doing it!
They are doing a service by repeating false narratives on China. I hope you get my drift, othewise this post will get deleted if I'm being to explicit.

i'm not saying china suck, but i've seen too many pro china post only NOTHING critical about china. is it something about 厉害了我的国 trend? if you goto other forum, i constantly defend China against anti-china stuff such as

. where did i EVER say china can't invent etc etc?? Now its becoming either pro-china or anti-china, there nothing in between. China made significant progress yes, and as ethnic chinese american i'm happy for Chinese people. when was last time you post article on negative side of China? i tend to read both positive and negative, then do the research and make my own conclusion. if i'm anti-china, i wont even be on this forum since 2006.

also the post above sound like anger to me. i'm in 40s now. grow up in China, my dad in 70s, he went through culture revolution etc and travel back to china every year. So is my wife, my in law etc etc so yes i do know a bit about china. also i have never said china can't invent or bashing china. if i do please quote it here.

The reasons people dont post negative stuff from China is simple! The western MSM does it each and everyday. I have never seen any good or postive news ever coming from the "free press".

We all know China is not perfect, but then neither is any country, but the west tends to think there system is god's paradise and China is hell on earth. So why do we feel the need to repeat it here?

China strong coterie, stick to the topic of the thread please.
Since I'm the author of this thread, I feel I have some special say on what is and isn't off-topic. I think the best way for this thread to get on-topic would be for you to leave it. You've contributed absolutely nothing - here or in any other thread - so you might want to exercise some self-awareness before LARPing as a moderator.

Props for using the word "coterie", though. That's a fairly rare one, not many know it.
