Not on exact scale, but I think the size of 075 would be roughly like this.

That is the reason why they probably need another 8 x Type 071A and 8 x Type 075 ships.

That is helpful for blue water operations, but such a small total transport capacity even with what you suggested would still be helpless in any major amphibious operations in for example, a Taiwan scenario, where 1 or 2 divisions is just not enough. A large fleet of smaller amphibious vessels (Zubr, LCAC, LCA) is more useful.

But that is okay. I guess that just means China really have no plans for liberating Taiwan then. They are just building a generic blue-water navy, following the steps of the Americans :)

Well, it isn't like the PLAN lacks for LSTs, and they are actively building quite a large number of the 726 LCACs. They also have a fairly sizeable fleet of older LCUs that would be relevant for a Taiwan contingency as well.

Additionally, while LPDs and LHDs are necessary for blue water amphibious operations, they would also play a very important role in a Taiwan contingency given an 071 can carry quite a large number of ZBD05 family vehicles; and 075s and 071s together will likely boast quite sizeable aviation complements that will enable more organic helicopter support for an assault force as well.

The way I see it, the amphibious assault fleet they are currently building is intended to be capable of both blue water amphibious operations as well as major amphibious operations near home such as a Taiwan contingency.

It looks like that dry dock in Hudong is able to crank out 2 type 071 and type 075 at the same time.

I don't know and I don't think so.

I believe that once the 8th Type 071 is launched, there are more than enough modules for a single 075, which means some of the modules are for a ship that will be seated next to the Type 075. That can be another 071 or a second 075.

They used to build 054A right next to 071 in that same dock. Or maybe 054A + 056A in one side then 071 on the other and there might be a shed nearby where they build 056 under the roof.
