"China rejected claims that it targeted Australian helicopter pilots with lasers in the South China Sea, calling on Australia to “reflect on itself.”

Earlier this month, an Australian named Euan Graham claimed that their military helicopter pilots were hit by lasers coming from Chinese fishing vessels in the South China Sea.

During that time, Graham was aboard HMAS Canberra, a helicopter landing dock and flagship of the Royal Australian Navy, which was on a three-month mission in the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean.

China’s Defense Ministry Spokesman Wu Qian has rebutted the accusations on Thursday at a monthly briefing, saying the report was “not consistent with the facts,” and Australia should “reflect on itself” before pointing the blame at others.

Chinese fishermen have the right to work in their own waters and sail through high seas, Wu added."

Australia was one of four countries to vote with the US and UK against the UN resolution calling for return of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius.

This should tell you everything you need to know about Australia's respect for international law and the rights of indigenous peoples.

your post made me curious which country would be the fourth, but there were "6 against (Australia, Hungary, Israel, Maldives, United Kingdom, United States)" according to

landlocked Hungary made my day

by the way several years ago, to kinda commemorate Austro-Hungarian Navy, I memorized (after multiple attempts, LOL) Hungarian for (without looking now, won't edit)
Navy = haditengereszet
and
Admiral = tengernagy

I meant four countries in addition to the US and UK (which were obviously going to vote against), for a total of six. Could make some comments about Israel and Hungary and their voting patterns in the context of their actions and domestic politics too, but I don't want to drag this thread off topic. The original point re: western hypocrisy is certainly valid and relevant, but we probably don't want to get too bogged down in the details.

Any further discussions is pointless when you don't respect rules. That is precisely why it is such a problem with China's rise because what is happening in SCS is the behaviour of a belligerent state that believe in might is right.

You're the greatest troll on this board. I'm surprised people are still taking your bait.

What rules do you want to apply? UNCLOS? Arbitary?.

He doesn't know what rules. He just wants China to be bound by every rule made in history but when other countries break them, he says that's a separate issue or that two wrongs don't make a right so China should still follow the rules.

It's all obviously a nonsensical feeble mental gymnastics attempt to try to convince people that other countries can break rules but China has to follow them or it's a belligerent Nazi-like (his words, not my embellishment) state. AND if you want him to put any substantiation into his own claims that he is responsible for, you have to give him a "one-shot and you win" kinda deal because he knows that's how big a handicap he needs to even stand a chance at claiming victory to avoid total embarrassment in this "debate."

Looks like you just described the US (and Russia, and many other countries) again. It is absolutely pointless because you want us to conclude that any other country (USA, Russia, Britain, Israel) can disrespect the rules but China should abide by them or it makes China belligerent. No, it makes China normal. And you flatter yourself to think you have the the mental debate skills to spin free-thinking people onto your skewed narrative.
In case you have not noticed, this thread is about the SCS and the UN tribunal has already rules that China's occupation of the islands is illegal. As such its claim of sovereignty is simply belligerent act. If to wish to discuss other countries start a new thread. As Deino has advised, stay on topic or is it rules somehow don't apply to you guys?
