problem is the ecosystem. google map, youtube, facebook, tweeter etc are essential app outside of china, so even if hauwei have good OS, it still wont able to attract customer without those app. i guess right now hauwei need concentrate on its hardware and internal china market. maybe outsource software to other company or india. Modi also want made in india, so maybe a india version of apps could attract more customer.

That would be a good idea, with China and India using their own OS and apps, the American hegemonic platform will be toppled.

its part of its.
but even if they lift the ban, huawei still need come up with their own hardware or from other company that dont have tie in US, so this can never happen again.

The illegal arrest of Huawei cfo is all part of a political smearing campaign of gaining leverage for the trade deal.

Well Huawei suffer temporary set back but it is a long fight and just because you lost one battle does not mean you lost the war
In the long run they will substitute those popular app and when that happened it will cut the profit on google, facebook, and instagram
But Huawei has 1.2 billion captive market Any app developer will be drooling at the prospect of having so many client. Actually there are many app store in china

As I and others on this forum have repeated China must have the full capability of indigenously producing high tech products of all categories of quality comparable to that of the US and its Allies. All these allies can succumb to pressure from Washington against their own economic interests. Even South Korea and Japan. It will be great for the rest of the world if there is major state of the art high tech producing country that is not an American ally.

yea, inside china Huawei would be fine, but its the oversea they gonna have issue, hence it should tailor to local market such as india/russia/brazil. youtube/google map/facebook are really popular EU/N.america, i just dont see any app can top that. its not about the tech, its the popularity, people get use to those apps. hence if hauwei team up with some india company and tailor some local taste and promote modi made in india etc, it can take a big market.

I thought it was all really obvious from the get-go because the US kept accusing Huawei of being a security threat but never presented any evidence to anyone. Every government around the world has likely put Huawei's equipment under a microscope and found nothing malicious. That Trump is now talking about including Huawei in a deal is an unnecessary confirmation to a known thing. It's like confirming that a person whose head is separated from his body is dead. The only importance I put to this news is the legal firepower it provides to Huawei's lawyers for use in anti-discrimination cases and with Ms. Meng's case.

WSJ needs a subscription to read entire content but don't worry, the title tells us enough. Many have tried this before but all failed. The most successful one in this regard maybe Microsoft's Windows phone.

Huawei started developing its OS back to 2012 but it never intended to replace Android. If it did, it also failed. This time things maybe different. the timing is correct because Huawei is forced to do so. At least in China, in my opinion, the market warrants up to 80% of success. If Chinese users accept the new OS, other Chinese phone makers may follow suits and the spreading of the new OS around the globe is just a matter of time.

Well you forgot that we are at the tailing end of 4G that produce the like of Google, Facebook, Youtube etc They get the first move advantage as Chinese app developer was nowhere at that time Now we have all kind of Chinese app developer from Baidu to Wechat, Tik tok, Youku Tudou, Didi chuxing, Alipay, Taobao etc

But 5 G will begin soon And this time around China's app developer is ready to pound on opportunity
Who knows what kind of killer app they will invent
App come and go and what is fashionable to day will be outdated tomorrow
