The PLAN LCAC Type 726 Yuyi Class

It is true that development of type 726 LCAC faced technical problems and production had to be halted. However, the problems have been solved, that is why now that large numbers of these hovercrafts are being built in JNCX. The improved variant is designated type 726A and these are the ones we are seeing in JNCX's harbour basin area.

If each of type 071 LPD is allocated with two 726A, they will need 16 units, and if four 726A are allocated than the need would be 32 units, not accounting for reserve units.

11 units has been sighted in photos released depicting PLAN exercise/training. We can expect at least 20 more to appear in JNCX shipyard. And if type 075 will to be equipped with LCAC, then many more 726A are needed.

I don't troll, look at the photo again, why is the space object tracking ship Yuan Wang 7 is still there? That ship has left JNCX sometimes ago.

Does the water looks like it is now, Summer time?

Hi Asif,

Do you have an exact date for when that satellite image was taken? It is obviously very recent (it shows all the latest developments to the yard extension) but I ask because it also appears to show an earth coffer dam separating the old pump house from the river which is something I don't think we have seen before. It also looks like they are no longer letting water into the basin through the new pump basin either which suggests that excavation may be about to resume.

Meanwhile at JNCX type 726 LCAC #3330 is moving out, passing type 055 #101, 055 #2 and type 052DG.

Well at least they are working on it, which means they have some idea of how to improve on it or at least set it in production. After seeing all those units on land for the better part of the time it is almost a relief to see one underway.

Well I am not going to break open the champagne bottle just yet, delay on the Yuyi might can be attribute to them trying to find a breakthrough. But since they actually took the trouble to move those things ( it costs money to do so ) they would have most likely decided to push things forward. Whether the Yuyi will be selected for the amphibious ships or it would be an improved successor is one thing, but the supposed building of the 075 does put impetus on the issue being resolved.
