The only wreckage imagery I could not trace to older events by reverse image search does not look remotely like a Flanker, so it may be prudent to tone down the speculation and schadenfreude for the time being. Those photos which seem genuine and show identifiable parts are clearly of a MiG-21 and Mi-17, further I didn't see anything that would definitively indicate a twin-seater or twin-engined aircraft?

Oh, and:

:D

While this is all true and good advice, the schadenfreude on Chinese forums are low to nonexistent. Despite the very real news of PAF gaining decisive upper hand in this little scuffle. If the roles were reversed, Indians would have been celebrating and denigrating Chinese weapons so loud, it could drown out every other piece of news around the world.

Look behind the head of Abhi---another pilot with his hands in the air---

If that is second pilot, why only announce the capture of one?

Also, looking at the background, there looks to be another two people hands up also. Seems more likely those might be the villages who first came across the Indian pilot and started to beat the crap out of him. The PA soldiers might have had to place them temporarily under arrest to stop them beating the Indian pilot even more.

Hopefully they will release the gun camera footage soon to help clear things up on how many were shot down and what type.

I believe Plawolf is correct. There is a widely circulated video interview of the Indian pilot sipping tea while answering questions. He thanked the Pakistan Army officer’s professionalism and treatment of him, specifically the Pakistan Army Captain who “rescued him from a mob”. This statement is near the beginning of the interview.

This is especially important for marketing the plane. The sales for Rafale got a good boost from bombing missions in Mali. Imagine what air-to-air kills can do for JF-17s. African/South Asian countries looking forward to counter legacy fighters from their neighbors will definitely be willing to pitch in.

Can you change the word "board" to "border" in the title please?
