Also how otherwise would they have credible deterrent against Brazil?
Call me a skeptic but why would China want to have a deterrent against Brazil? All matters considering Brazil is as far away from having nukes as Earth is from Mars, and even further away from any nuclear confrontation with China.
The DF-41 is necessary because while the DF-31 has the range to cover most of CONUS it must be remember that this is usually the maximum range with the minimum throw weight. So a DF-41 with its longer range will be needed for maximum delivery against the US.

It was meant to be a joke...

DF-41s have many more MIRV than DF-31 right? That’s a solid reason to use them

Range and payload aren't the only things to be upgraded when improving ICBMs you know. There's speed, accuracy, counter-interception technology, etc... And obviously, even if the DF-31X could deliver its full payload to whichever country, the DF-41 could certainly deliver more.

: The People's Liberation Army Rocket Force University of Engineering released a video showing the process of launching a ballistic missile, which also gives a glimpse of a Rocket Force command center.

Two questions:

a) considering Chinese geography ( shallow Yellow sea and ECS, first island chain, US bases nearby, enemy cuntries like Japan or Vietnam or Phillipines ready to assist the US by giving them bases/informations ) are SSBNs really something China needs? Even with long range missiles, from Hainan there's about 12 000 km to LA, I would say that's the end of submarine missiles range. I mean, how really vieble deterrent are SSBNs for China?

b) about JL-2 missile, if we compare them with similar Western/Russian missiles we see that dimensions are similar, but JL-2 has lower range. What's the problem? Not so good Chinese rocket engines or?

A) not necessarily a lot. SSBNs is sort of an afterthought in the nuclear doctrine. China’s spends most of it’s deterrence budget on ABM, shelters and silos.

B) probably because the JL-2 is based on really old hardware, the DF-4/DF-31. I’ll assume the DF-41 engines is the current world no1 given them having the longest range and huge payload. But those aren’t on the JL-2 because the military hasn’t felt the need to add them. Again SSBNs as afterthought.

Agreed. So, with that in mind, aren't Type 094 SSBNs really not needed for China? OK, they might serve as a detterent against India or Russia, but we all know against who China really needs deterrent... And they can hardly help there.
