Since when have laws against adultery stopped it from happening? (Though the limited prospects of actual military action certainly make service more appealing to some than other militaries)
To those who serve/served in the armed forces: WHAT DO YOU ENVY ABOUT THE PLA?

Differences is in the actual impliment of jail time.
So let me get this correct...In the PLA if you are discovered to have had sexual intercourse while on active duty you will go to jail?
That is creul and unusal punishment..I woulda been in jail a long time....That's craziness. how the hell do they inforce that? That stuff turns men into sadist...

In PLA, whether on active or not, sex without marriage is not permitted but In PLA anyone else attempting to have sexual intercourse with your wife or husband will also go to jail. My advice is never get caught. i.e. don’t do it in a motel as it may be raided by vice squad etc.
Divorce may only be permitted with the explicit consent of the enlisted personnel. Generally it’s pretty hard to get rid of someone if he or she have a grudge to hold.
These rules may seem harsh but generally is to the benefit of marital stability

Question for popeye: if having intercourse as a soldier is bad, then why did the Lady of Abu Gharib get into trouble? (The woman caught w/ a chain hanging from a POW's neck.) If I remember right, she also faced some sort of charge about her pregnacy or something along that line also?
Physical punishing isn't uncommon, and when the army is voluntary and confucianism(don't know the exact spelling.) is the norm, it isn't bad. It's like punishing your kid for........flushing money down the toilet for fun.
It seems harsh at first, but when u r in the arty corp, it isnt unreasonable either. I think the Koreans have a worse treatment, just like the Russians, for roughening up..... (At least it doesn't result in the use of ammonia. Geez, that was ^@!#(%$ up........)

She was acting out of the bounds of her authority in that matter. All those people convicted in the Abu Gharib scandal diserved to go to prison for their actions. Not sure about her being pregnant. Lot's of female military members have children out of wedlock...
Some do it so they won't have to deploy.And get this>>They do not get punished! The US military goes by the Uniform Code of Military Justice. This is the code all US military are judged by. No authority ,to my knowledge is allowed to override it...There's one in there about sex.

The problem with the American armed forces is that it has become a testing ground for social experimentation, even in such areas as sex. On the one hand, many of its highly-conservative senior officers are downright prissy about sex, for reasons ranging from a religious point of view to the fact that they ain't gettin' any! Then, on the other hand, the screaming liberals endorse things like the UN's latest pronouncements about sexual exploitation and trafficking in persons. So, the poor troops get caught in the middle! If they're caught in bed with someone, that person had better not be married, not less than 18, not of a higher or lower rank if military and not serving in the same unit, not receiving compensation for the act, not of origin foreign to the country where the act takes place, etc., etc. The old saw about keeping it 100 miles from the flagpole has never been truer. It is now a court-martial charge to have sex with a prostitute, thanks to the UN's campaign. In fact, I believe you can be tried for having sex with yourself. Of course, such legislated morality is just another burden for our youngsters in service to bear.
that was the old china my friend. it maybe true in the military community which i have doubts. I think having sex with your g/f before marraige is fine
To lower prostitution rates which was non existant up until the opening up of the economy. Btw PLA don't have vice squad but the bureau of public security do (ie police) and motel raids are actually quite common in suspected hotspots.
