Trade War with China

The world is larger than the american affilated G7.

The only strategy out of this is China trading HONESTLY and benefiting both parties with rest of the world.

Right now China is doing it all wrong, the One Belt One Road is basically a bust as 72 countries that signed up, 23 countries are in perpetual debt trap that can't get out and have to forfeit their sovereignty over their ports and infrastructures. Its a debt-trap diplomacy.

This is basically a GIANT SCAM and DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.

All the pro-China losers can whine all you want but the fact is the fact. It leaves a bitter taste to even their staunchest ally like Pakistan.

China will soon have no one else to trade after everyone wise up to the scam and then its economy will collapse.

IF ONLY, Xi and his cohort ACTUALLY had the vision of developing the One Belt One Road that could benefit ALL the participating countries in a transparent manner, it would have been an engine for China and rest of the non-american aligned nations to get out of the poverty and middle income trap towards the path of prosperity.

But sadly Xi is a little man with no vision and definitely no temperament to under take such a task.

I am deeply disappointed. Maybe China 3.0 after the collapse will usher in a better China. Maybe.

China may deploy the strategy of becoming the Yes man to every single demand of US for 2 years.

After 2 years , China will turn around and say I change my mind.

Buying 2 years time is enough incentive to deploy this strategy

There's a strategy under Sun Tzu for this.
兵不厌弊

2019 will be scary. There are huge amount of layoffs in the pipeline from large corporations such as tencent, alibaba, sina, baidu, vangke..etc talking about 20% to 30% staffs layoffs. Some estimate there would be not 6%, 5% growth but negative %.

All those talk about domestic consumption to withstand trade war is not withstanding. Ever single domestic consumption indicator is down. Migrant workers usually go home during Chinese new year are going home now because of no work. Confidence for domestic consumption is totally shot during this trade war

Well, the only thing can save China is that tibet water to xin-jiang huge project that essentially creates a new China will immediately absorb 30 million excessive workers from Eastern region.

This huge project will take many many years to complete. Once completed, a new China will emerge and new xin-jiang will able to support at least 200 million people. Not only xin-jiang but also Gansu and inner Mongolia landscape will change.

That's just really dumb. If Xi does that he is basically a neutered Eunuch. The american will not back away from collapsing China completely until they are certain it is.
They will design policies to instigate, disintegrate China. They will "promise" that until China comply with "their fair rules" they won't back down and those rules will be there tools to destroy China.

I will say this - Trump is the type of man that if you show weakness, he will take all you have and your underpants and then set you on fire.
He only respect STRONG MEN (like Putin) who is not in fear of him and is capable and willing to DESTROY HIM. Psychologically Trump really is just a classic bully - they only respect you after you show them you are willing and capable of exacting far more damage than they dish out.

China has the mean to get out of this. But it is currently wasting away those means for short-sighted gains. You don't win people's heart and certainly not their trust by conning and scamming people.

Really ? This is the kind of level of discussion we are seeing on this thread ? To say that China is responsible for countries biting off more than what they can chew in the OBOR deal is like saying the booze seller is responsible for the drunkard's alcohol poisoning. These countries willingly took on debts that they couldn't pay off in the end. While I am of the opinion that China should offer more lenient debt restructuring methods for these countries instead of just the usual mortgage/repossession route, I have 0 sympathy for such countries who signed the dotted line without reading the fine print first.
It is like Greek financial crisis 2.0, when Athens partied way too hard on easy Euro and when Brussels came knocking.
And people who are pinning for a Chinese collapse better heed the saying "be careful what one wishes for", the world was exceptionally lucky that the USSR dissolved without much fuss. The next power shift might not be so calm.
More soever, trade and investments are 2 fundamentally different beasts. Even though they do often go hand in hand from time to time. A country can refuse to take on investments, especially if they are offered by one side only. But to cut off trade, especially if that country is your biggest trading partner in both export and import, is easier said then done. The US has certainly shown that to be the case, seeing that it's Chinese imports actually hid an all time high last year despite ongoing trade/investment disputes.

It's a "discussion" between two hyperventilating simpletons.

It doesn't matter if they're careful or foolhardy about what they wish for - they aren't going to get what they wish for. There's an American saying I really like that I think is particularly apt when discussing China collapsists: wish in one hand, shit in the other, and see which one gets full first.

That's a ridiculous pompous assumption.

If China collapses, it sure will grab US down with it. Don't think for a moment, when China collapsed, US won't also fatally wounded.

I already can think many cases that China can do just to spite US if it doesn't care about its own interests.

CCP already thought it out, if in absolute worst case, it would be.
鱼死网破

China can immediately bring US into recession by dumping its entire treasury.

More than half of US tech companies would die if China shut US companies out of China. This would be fatal to US industries

If China goes all out and willing to assist whatever Iran needed, then the alliance of China and Russia militarily operate at Iran means US fifth fleet would lose control of Persian Gulf. I want to see ASBM, H6K with stand off long range AShm, J31 l, anti stealth radar operate at Iran!!

US out of Afghan, China will be into Wakan Corridor, this would be a new OBOR routes. OBOR has many routes, one through Russia, one through kazahkstan, another Pakistan and now Afghan route added. It's OK if one route got some issues and got delayed but multiple tracks approach would bypass that.

The new China from the of water from Tibet to xin-jiang project will absorb all those excessive labor forces in China and stabilize China internally.

Dump the entire US Treasury and bring all assets home.

If they do it overnight then yes. IF they do it slowly no.
Interesting, president T slowed down the increase of tariffs : P

That is not enough to absorb that magnitude of workers.

China needs more and bigger projects.

And all of that will not prevent the local governments/ politically connected companies to go into bankruptcy.
