We have some survivors!

Based on these images the following F-22A were in Tydall when Hurricane Michael hit and survived it: 01-4022, 02-4031, 02-4040, 03-4044 and 04-4083.

Yep, every once in a while its nice to be wrong, LOL! Happy to see these girls departing! I'd say USAF has had a "close encounter", with hurricane Michael, that was survivable, but Secretary Mattis?? not so much! I think we will see Raptor readiness rates go up, this has been a major embarrassment, but sometimes you've got to have a close call to have your eyes opened??

but, I'm not wrong about each individual Raptor being a "home built", lots and lots of the bits need "massaging" or worse, made to order to function! this is a function of many of these early LRIP birds populating the "training squadron".....

True, I'd be wouldn't be surprised if at least a half dozen went in "depot level maintenance"? they are due for some heavy maintenance anyway,, I would hope they would begin SLEPing these birds?

Yep, those Raptors are covered in insulation, they look surprisingly fit, as I've stated before, Raptor ready rates will never be stellar given that the bulk of the fleet are very early LRIP birds, that is what is so sad? The Raptor was just becoming affordable when production was halted....

Don't let anyone tell you 5 Gens Fighter's or L/O bombers are cheap, they are not, with all the demand on capital, production schedules are bound to be pushed back? "expensive", as production rate goes down, cost goes way up!

I still consider a "Raptor Reboot" to be worthwhile of serious consideration, particularly now that Japan seems to be wanting to Partner with a US, company, looking like LockMart to build a Hi end fighter to go with the F-35, a cross between the twin engine F-22, and the sensor fused F-35...

I'm rather concerned that the B-21 is purely an "offensive" weapon, not really contributing at all to our defensive needs, we have never had so few top end fighters in the modern USAF and while there is no doubt we can and will match our adversaries one on one, it has served us well to have outstanding aircraft like the F-14, F-15, and F-22.... we need that capability..

The F-35 is very good, but its still not a Raptor...

That insulation is high up on the wall, it was behind a panel, its designed to keep those hangars kool!

Next gen F-15 look pretty dang sexy, having squadrons F-15s and 1-2 F-35/ F-22's as quarterbacks still one of the most formidable squadrons any country could even imagine of putting together in terms of tech/ power/ and stealth, only we can! Yes, wish we built a F-22A/B/C then Super Raptor instead of the 160 F-22s we have now. But whatcha gonna do..... Atleast Obama isn't at the helm and Trump and Maddawg Mattis is. Imagine a Christmas package of 10 F-22s and 2-3-4 B2s. Unstoppable delivering those packages
