Yeah it seems really awesome. I wonder when we will get accurate numbers on the total amount of aircraft built.

But only 2 out of 7 have engines installed

This is not a good sign

Engines should be installed during final assembly

Break in manufacturing protocol, question is why ?

A shortage of Russian D-30 engines? Perhaps they thought the WS-20 would be available by now? Who knows. My guess is that, sure, both aircraft (Y-20 and H-6K) use the D-30 engine but because the engines in the Y-20 are easier to access, as they are mounted in external pods, they have made it a priority to install any available D-30 engines on the H-6Ks.

To be frank I was surprised the Russians did not throw a fit once the Y-20 came out. If it was like a decade ago they would have probably demanded that the Chinese buy Il-76s if they wanted any D-30 engines.

Take-off and landing looks great. There is something very romantic about amphibious aircraft.

That main landing gear though... :confused:
