ZTQ-15 and PRC Light Tanks

The Chinese also have a tube launched missile similar to the Israeli LAHAT I think. Also don't forget that they have anti-tank attack helicopters like the WZ-10. So it's not like the light tanks would be the only anti-tank platform in case of a war in those places.

I suppose ideally all the ZTQ have to face are spgs and ifvs, which it can probably handle quite easily. Although Im still in favour of a bigger gun, considering its weight and for my own liking :p

It's not planned to operate in regions where MBT even in 40+ tonnes can easily operate in. It won't be seeing any serious heavy armour so the 105mm is more than enough to destroy all IFV types and more than enough to penetrate MBTs by outflanking them. T-90 from India is really the one and only large target it would ever ideally face.

OK so after some looking around I found this image

look at the recoil on that lol. I suppose 105 will have to do, considering the design of ZTQ needs to accommodate higher gun elevation than usual tanks, therefore possibly mechanically more straining.

Yeah, because of the recoil, a vehicle like that can only be used in ambushes or in situations where you stop, fire, then move, then you need to stop to fire again. It loses in terms of mobility. Imagine firing something like this in a marsh. The tank would get bogged down. Also I doubt that suspension lasts long with a gun like that unless they reduce the propellant pressure. That might be the reason why the Russian Airbone Troops cancelled the Sprut SD (only 24 vehicles produced before it was canned). Yet they have ordered large numbers of BMD-4s which use a 100mm rifled low-pressure gun.

That is not exactly true, if we are to discard the armor department completely. There are some instances whereby vehicles of the 25 ton bracket can sport bigger caliber high pressure guns, the centauro 120mm is an example.
