yes, only 3 of J-20 , and 3 of J-16 , sorry , I made mistake .

and here at Mos Eisley Spaceport, among this retched hive of "Scum and Villainy", (formerly known as the Sino Defense Forum), we have a young man of honor, who rectifies his mistake, and honors us with his own humble contrite apology!

DaTang, I award you the SDF Post of the Day, and I am bowing humbly before a man of honor, Bless your heart Son, you make us all proud!

I takes a real man to apologise, it takes a much bigger man to say "I made a mistake!", I am very proud of you Bub, more than that, I am humbled.....

Can we assume that each J-20 reg is 3 J-20s, 3 J-16s / J-11s?

No. First of all - any maybe nitpicking - there are no Regiments flying the J-20, but only two Brigades.

These are the 176. Brigade at Dingxin and the 172. Air Brigade at Cangzhou.

The 176. is actually a bit special since it operates indeed a mix of three types, namely the J-20s, J-16s and J-10Cs. The 172. however operates J-20s and JL-10s.

Newly released old photo? Almost certainly from Zhuhai Airshow 2016.

One possibility with this State A stuff is that the J-20 will receive TVC in its A-iteration. That might have been the meaning of the TVC tests on the J-10; i.e, they're preparing to stuff WS-10C onto the J-20 with TVC. On the minus side, this means that we should expect the WS-15 to be quite late at the present rate.

I also want to mention that without camouflage colors, the J-20 is actually quite attractive. In all black, or with dazzle paint, the J-20 looks quite ugly, but with these sort of flat images, the J-20 is quite a sword. I mean, I'd prefer Mio Akiyawa as the J-20's nickname instead of the Fierce Dragon nonsense (too militaristic), or barring that, Black Silk Stockings, but things like "long sword", "sharp sword", etc, are good names.

Brigades are oversized regiments, which are comprised of squadrons, which are then comprised of flights. Each squadron should have about 9 J-20s, so we know there are probably at least 18 operational J-20s in existence. From the oversized number, we could assume 27 or 36.
