Boeing placed well in both the ATF (leading to the F-22, where they joined the team headed by eventual winners Lockheed) and JSF (leading to the F-35, where they received a contract to build the X-32 demonstrator as runners-up) competitions and in both instances submitted designs with a blocker. So it stands to reason that matching the ATF & JSF (i.e. F-22 & F-35) stealth requirements is possible with a blocker, and that the engine performance penalty of a well designed blocker is not so large as to preclude supercruise satisfying the ATF spec.

Anybody with a small dribble of gray matter should be able to deduce that having Russian crews, training Turkish operators, having up close and personal technical information on the F-35, and 100 F-35s to run "voodoo" on! Basing your opinion on a lobbying effort is a rather risky endeavor, and most honest people have lost faith in our so called "intelligence community", thanks to John Brennan and his "minions". I'm positive that every Western Fighter Pilot flying the F-35 into combat would be vehemently opposed to allowing Turkey to buy F-35s, knowing that Turkey was buying the S-400 from the Russians...
Lol, John Brennan and his minions... Who told you that, Qanon or Alex Jones?

From all the hype the S-400 is getting, you'd think it was some cross of Skynet, Pizzagate and the Human Reptoids.

You really ought to do a little better research before making assumptions about the US Military,, there's little doubt that the Senate took nearly unilateral action on shutting the Turkish sale down, due to concern and upon the recommendation of their liason's in the US Military....

A US defense official told CNN that Mattis is opposed to congressional attempts to block Turkey's receipt of the advanced warplanes. The official says Mattis has been actively engaging with members of Congress in an attempt to ensure that the language in the Senate's version of the defense bill does not make it into the final version to be signed by President Donald Trump.

I'm pretty sure that Mattis and 45 wouldn't be pushing for Turkey to get the F-35 if the S-400 is a such a threat to it.

It's pretty obvious that "every Western Fighter Pilot flying the F-35 into combat" would have trust in at least the former.

in any regard, if the Turks buy the S-400 from the Russians, and we begin delivering New F-35's to Turkey, I will personally issue a retraction of my statements and offer a very real apology..

I'm not saying that can't happen, I'm saying it shouldn't happen under the circumstances... we never sold a single F-22 for precisely that reason!

Uh, we already began delivery of the F-35s to Turkey

Actually Bub, they had a ceremony at Ft. Worth, it was just that a ceremony, those two aircraft are likely still in Ft. Worth, they will be flown to Luke AFB and put in the "pool", with everyone else's birds, and the Turkish pilots and maintainers will begin their training,,,, it will be a year before any F-35's are scheduled to be flown across the Atlantic to Turkey!

I'm confident in my assessment, but I'm will to admit that at this stage anything can happen.. in the main, I'm sure US troops are confident in General Mattis,,, but I can assure you most F-35 pilots would vehemently object to delivering the F-35 to Turkey if they buy the S-400...

Fifth Generation aircraft depend on secret technology, and Fifth Gens are an amazing force multiplier, but that depends on keeping the top secret aspects of aircraft operation and construction secret....

So we will see?

I think this ought to have something interesting to say about the Russian Su-57's capabilities.

To be fair, it was on the 5th prototype instead of the latest, but even still...it's not like it is on the first one.su-57-targettingpod.jpg
