Measure could delay sale of 100 planes
June 18, 2018

Here ya go, those F-35s will not be operating alongside the S-400, it WILL NOT happen, can NOT happen!

while this makes me sad, it really makes me more disgusted, and Turkey needs to free that US Pastor! Christians are persecuted all over the world! the US Senate is speaking with one voice here, and the NEVER do that anymore, but here they got their Krap together.....

Erdogan is playing a game, not smart in my opinion, but it suits his sad purpose...

The F-35 project is an "inner circle" bird, Turkey is stepping out of that circle, it does indeed sadden me, but hey, they know what they are doing...

If we actually cared about religious persecution around the world, we wouldn't sell weapons to anyone.

It would need to be Rushed in to Law on the quick to block the First Deliver of a F35A to Turkey which is slated for Roll out Thursday or Friday. With Training start this week.

While time is of the essence? if you read the full article those birds will be delivered this week, but will not leave the country for at least a year,, so we can deliver the weapons and train those Turkish pilots awaiting training... and give Turkey the benefit of the doubt?? but if Turkey takes delivery of those S-400s, that's breaking faith with NATO, and breaking the terms of F-35 partnership, sorry, but that's the truth....

If this is your personal belief and you live by it, then I respect that, I love peace, I just don't believe that passive resistance does anything but embolden evil.

Weapons don't persecute people, we use our weapons for the defense of life and liberty, we sell them to our allies so that they too might defend their lives and liberty.. there is rampant evil in the world, we make every attempt to reign it in...

this is not an esoteric exercise, but an existential struggle.

end off topic:
The F-35 is an aircraft that is being built by a group of like minded partners, if Turkey has changed their mind and wishes to enter the Russian sphere of influence, and adopt a similar world view, they don't need the F-35.... they initially entered the partnership in order protect themselves from Russian aggression.

For our partnership to work, we must respect one another in order to build the best aircraft for the job...

There are two potential things that have been tried to be pushed via that ruling and could play out.
First is severing there partnership in the F35 program. This means that Turkey would be locked out of manufacturing of F35s. This means some parts of the F35 program would need to be reorganized 10 Turkish companies are part of the F35 consortium. It would also mean changing locations of a F35 overhaul and repare facility planed for Turkey. However It would still allow the Turks to buy F35s.

Second is to actually stop selling to Turkey. This would be harder than the First as it would demand all the above and prevent delivery of F35's for future export.

S400 may be an annoyance but is the "Cure" Worse then the "Disease"? Don't get me wrong I have a dislike of what Turkey has done of late in a number of categories but S400 buys is not even ranking among the Erdogan's sins.

If we locked Turkey out of the F-35 program, what's to stop them from taking the entirety of their extensive knowledge base (especially of the engines and stealth technology) and shopping it around to a third party?

Now obviously F-35 user Turkey isn't going to tell China/Russia too much about the F-35, but F-35 non user is another animal entirely.

Not to mention what rearranging the supply chain at this point will do the F-35's financial and logistical health.

and here TerraN, you're missing the forest for the trees,,, YES, buying the S400 will "lock Turkey OUT" of the F-35 partnership..

If Turkey has all our stealth secrets in the F-35, are you naïve enough to believe the Russians who will be "crewing and training" the Turks on the S400 won't be passing on this goldmine of information?? the Turks will fly the F-35 against the S400, and allow the S400 crews to attempt to probe and flesh out a winning strategy against the the F-35.

those Russian crews and Turks will pass the F-35 information on to the Russians, who will in turn pas it on to the Chinese, and every other postential adversary.....

Not Really. The Turks have a vested interest in compartmentalizing data and information All military agencies do. For the Case of the F35 The Turks are not going to give the Russians a guided tour of the Fighter. What is a worry is that they will have to share other data in regards to communications in general to ensure that there Air defense systems are inter-operable. The Turks already would have a pretty good knowledge base for the F35 being a partner nation and having 10 makers involved.

I would suggest that is exactly the reason the Russians are currently "courting Erdogan", as you recall, Turkey shot down a Russian military aircraft recently, and after extreme anger, now Putin has offered the Turks th S400 in a gesture of goodwill...

So I suggest that Russia is extremely interested in testing their S400 against the F-35, more interested than that actually.. and Erdogan has an means of getting "revenge" for what he continues to claim is a US desire to un-seat him....
