Hi,

I am collecting Army songs (songs that we sang in the army during any occassion such as marching, etc) all around the world, please contribute. I'll start contributing some from Singapore;

Song1:

Training to be soldiers
Training to be soldiers.
Fight for our land.
Once in a life, two years of our time.
Have you ever wondered
Why must we served
Because we loved our land
And we want it to be free to be free ya.
Stand up Be on your guard
C'mon everybody do your part
C'mon everybody

Song 2

Left toe Right toe Keep up the tempo
Left toe Right toe Eh-o-o-eh-o
Here we go again
Same old shit again
Up and down the seven hills
(Depend on the booking out day. Assume 4 ) Four more days and we'll be through.
Well-lo-well-lo-well-low-well-o-ha ha
Well-lo-well-l-well-low-well-o-wah-ha ha
Up the hill Down the slope.
Any Sweat ???!!!???
(Echo) No Sweat Chicken Feet underwear wet wet dun believe come and check !!
Ha ha all the way!!!

Song 3

Army Life
I don't want an Army life,
here the food are mighty fine,
ask chicken drumstick,
they give you the backside!

I don't want an Army life,
here the girls are pretty fine,
ask Madonna,
they give you Frankenstein!

I don't want an Army life,
here the pillows are mighty fine,
ask for support pillow,
they give you porcupine!

I don't want an Army life,
here the guns are mighty fine,
when you squeeze the trigger,
it shoots out from behind!
Ha ha - All the Way!

Well Here's few collective verses of the songs that we sang (The orginal song in finnish is in italics, a rough translation is in normal text...)
The "melody" is propaply the same as in other countries...

Tahdon olla tykkimies
Taistelukenttien teräsmies

(I want to be an artillerist
superman of the battlefield)

Jääkärit tetsaa otsat hies
Tykkimies on tiedemies!

(Infantry charges with sweat on their heads
Artillerist is a scientist!)

On tykissäni millejä 122
eikä kukaan pistä paremmaks

(There 122mm in my howitser
And none is topping that!)

Mitä se nainen rakastaa?
Tykkimiestä ja vesisänkyä

(What does women love?
An artillerist and a waterbed)

Mitä se nainen inhoaa?
Heitinmiestä ja hetekkaa

(What does women hate?
Mortar mens and old rugbed)

Jääkärin nainen se sängyllä makaa
Tykkimies vetää sitä edestä ja takaa

(Infantrymans women lays in the bed
Artillerist fucks her from both ends)

Jääkärin koira se lattialla makaa
Pioneeri vetää sitä edestä ja takaa

(Infantrymans dog lays in the floor
An engineer fucks it from both ends)

;)

Dang Gollevainen, the Finnish artillery sure has some pretty screwed up songs! (Then again most army songs have historically been pretty misogynist in the first place)

Well that is what you get when you put near-end teenagers to march around in silly clothes...;)

And when you put them in a woman-less enviroment :D . Seriously, I'm pretty sure every military other than the Swiss Guard has its own somewhat perverted marching songs.

And Golly's little number is not that much different from a lot of popular music here in America....

Finn: I wouldn't guarantee the Swiss Guard doesn't have some of its own...:D

It's the "Jody Factor." Leaving home, family, girlfriend/wife/women and familiar climes/mores behind to serve in the military - and not knowing what will happen to them in your absence - has generated marching songs since Og and Murg picked up their clubs and went marching into their neighbor's land.

And Golly's little number is not that much different from a lot of popular music here in America....

In the dark of the morning, I can stand on the porch of my building and listen to our students marching to school. I have heard several distinctive recent rock tunes adapted by our "Drone and Bungle Corps" (drum and bugle corps) for our mixed bag of Air Force, Army, Marine and Navy marchers -- and have heard obvious hip-hop lyrics (obscenities included) sung out loudly as our mixed-sex, mixed-service squadrons and flights go by in the anonymous dark...

And it ain't just the guys singing them... :p

March of the PLA

Sounds like the songs sang when high officers are listening, I bet my hat that when no officers near around the lyrics changes to more "tradditional" grunt songs;)
