The second now launched.

The Chinese are going to continue to raise eyebrows as they keep pumping out these large, cruiser sized and capable vessels every six omonths or so for the next few years.

Beautiful ships.

The comparison with the Type 052D is clear...and the Type 052D is an excellent destroyer.

As the PLAN continues to equip themselves with many of these two large surface combatants, not to mention the Type 054A/B FFG and Type 056 light Frigate, you have the makings of a very powerful, scalable, capable, and strong surface Navy.

Tout est une question de "taille"...

Everything is a matter of "size"...

OUSTANDING comparison!

Both ships have GREAT lines and are very capable. But this really shows, better than any other to date, the comparison between the two and just how large the Type 055 truly is.

Agreed, and the integrated mast amongst other things meant there is significantly less clutter. A remarkably clean design, and It was even more impressive to behold considering that the 052D was already rather elegant itself

I have never found any of the PLAN ships aggressive or intimidating... but when I really, genuinely look at the Type 055... I really think... I'm intimidated lol

On another note... I really wish they had a secondary CIWS...

The former Soviet navy built some very intimidating looking ships. Slava class cruisers come to mind. Those ladies were huge and quite intimidating having seen one up close myself no doubt due to the banks of forward facing giant SSN 12s and dark sea gray uniformed in Russian vessels.

Or the Kirov cruisers, as I have posted earlier. If China ever did come about to build a new ship around that size and class I really will be impressed.

Some very good images recently posted here of the 055. Looking at the latest photo from Dalian, it certainly does answer the question fully now, that the 3rd and 4th 055's have been painted.
It also looks like both ships have been built in parallel, and are at the same stage of construction?
Is this correct? Were they both laid down at the same time?
Anyway, both look like they will be launched before the end of the year.......and wouldn't that be something if they were both launched on the same day?......is that even possible to do?........i'll stop writing now as i can't finish a sentence without having to put a question mark at the end! :)
