Here is the individual in question:

I can't find the exact quote regarding this particular rumor since it's from another user, but that would be his Chinese Twitter page if you want to check it out. I think he was among the first ones to "leak" that the FC-31 project had gained government funding back in spring 2017.

I know who 草根设计师 is, and I follow his Weibo feed. You claimed that 草根设计师 said "the 2013 design was presented to a top manager and was instantly rejected". When I asked you to show me the text where 草根设计师 made that claim, you admitted that you were not able to, AND that the claim was actually made by a different user altogether.

Now I really want to know: are you being fast and loose with us here, are you being deliberately obtuse?

Sorry to break it to you, but I went through your links and couldn't find anything to corroborate your claim, which is:
  • "Fzgfzy seems to be saying that there are two JH-XX bomber designs and that the more "beautiful and science-fiction-like" one might end up being approved. Apparently the mockup of the cockpit that was photographed in July 2013 is the "ugly" version."

Was anything you said actually true, or are you running a gossip column here? You do understand that SDF is not a fanboy site, don't you?

I'll relay the following opinions from pb19980515:

"XAC has been studying a four-engined bomber design since 2010. 8 years have passed, so it is likely to be unveiled soon. It's best not to extrapolate the bomber's shape from the video as the CG might not be entirely representative of the actual bomber."

Show me a link where pb19980515 expressed the opinion, or it didn't happen.

As I've stated, the claim was relayed by another forumer so I don't have the direct links to that particular statement. As with all rumors, we're to take it with some salt.

FZGFZY posted two pictures, one of a manta ray and the other of a platypus, on two separate occasions. In one such post (which I've provided the link for), he even combines those two pictures with photos of the unknown SAC bomber cockpit. Both of these posts were released at a time when rumors of the bomber configuration were rife. As a matter of fact, in his latest post (which I've provided the link for) he comments "platypus-type bomber and red B-2" with respect to the pictures he posted. Even if one lacks the most mundane inferencing abilities, it's pretty evident that fzgfzy was hinting at the bomber projects. If you're looking for a "big shrimp" to say the following words: "China is building a stealthy flying wing and a stealthy supersonic strike fighter", perhaps you've come to the wrong place.

The "beautiful"/"ugly" claim is linked below and is mentioned in the comments of the bottom link and directly in the top one:

Good, perhaps SDF should ban the keywords "big shrimp", "pb19980515", "fzgfzy", "huitong", "Henri k", and any user to mentions these taboo terms. In fact, let's all do you a favor and delete every J-XX/H-XX/JH-XX/Y-XX thread until the things are in active service.

So, you heard from someone somewhere that 草根设计师 said so and so, but you don't have a link for that. This begs two questions:
  1. Did you go to 草根设计师's Weibo feed and verify for yourself?
  2. Why did you originally present this as something said directly by 草根设计师?
BTW, who is this other forumer who "replayed" what 草根设计师 allegedly said? Where can I find this forumer?

Nice straw man argument. Could you provide a link to a post of mine in which I denied the existence of Chinese bomber projects, or that I denied fzgfzy was hinting at bomber projects? Back to topic at hand, my original objection was to your claim that "Fzgfzy seems to be saying that there are two JH-XX bomber designs..."

Fzgfzy
didn't say or imply that there are TWO JH-XX bomber designs. End of story.

I didn't group you with the likes of 'big shrimps', Huitong, and Heri K. Those fine gentlemen are not fanboys.

Flying-wing bomber unveiling forecast by aviation experts

By ZHAO LEI | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2018-05-08 22:13
China is likely to soon unveil one of its most anticipated weapons — a new-generation long-range bomber, aviation industry observers said amid disclosure of the plane’s appearance by its developer on Tuesday.

Aviation Industry Corp of China, the nation’s leading aircraft maker, displayed a front view of what appears to be a flying-wing aircraft concept at the end of a promotional video. The video was published on its WeChat account to mark the 60th birthday of Xi’an Aircraft Industry, an AVIC subsidiary in Shaanxi province that is China’s major builder of bomber aircraft.

The video shows an artistic rendering of a triangle-shaped plane under two English words and ellipses, “The Next……”. The scene closely resembles a moment in a 2015 promotional video from United States aerospace and defense technology company Northrop Grumman that depicted what is now known as the B-21 Raider, the US’s next long-range, stealth strategic bomber.

AVIC did not explain the six-second episode, placed at the end of the video in an unmistakable attempt to highlight the plane’s significance and mystery.

Despite its brevity, the video seems to have ended debate among Chinese military fans and aviation industry observers on whether the country’s new bomber will adopt a conventional aerodynamic configuration or a flying-wing design previously used only by the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit stealth bomber.

General Ma Xiaotian, former commander of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force, told reporters in September 2016, “We are now developing a new-generation, long-range strike bomber that you will see sometime in the future.” Ma’s remarks put an end to years of speculation on whether China would develop a new aircraft to replace its half century-old H-6 bomber series.

Shi Jian, senior editor at Aviation World Monthly magazine, said the latest AVIC move indicates that the State-owned defense giant believes the new bomber’s design and technologies have advanced enough that the company wants to let people know of the program’s progress.

“I think the new bomber will be unveiled to the public in the near future,” he said. “It is now not uncommon for the PLA to make public its top weapons before their delivery thanks to the increased level of transparency and confidence brought about by our technological advancement.”

He said the flying-wing design should not have been difficult for Chinese engineers when they designed the bomber, explaining the real challenges lie in the plane’s flight-control system and engines.

Fu Qianshao, an aircraft expert from the PLA Air Force, anticipated that the new bomber would be better than the US’s B-21 in flight range and carrying capacity.

He said it will probably have an operational range of at least 12,000 kilometers and a maximum payload of 20 metric tons of bombs and missiles.

Not according to the big shrimp. Apparently the "H-18" design that we all know about was presented to a top "boss" in 2013 and was soundly rejected. It seems that the project may have been picked up later.

Could you be more specific? Who is this 'big shrimp'? Could you link us to his original post?

I'm not trying to be an asshole, I swear. We've already gone through this with you once before, so please do all of us a favor: be more judicious with your choice of words, provide sources, and refrain from filling in the blanks with your imagination.

Again, since I cannot emphasize this enough, please always provide sources, whether they be in the form of text, screenshots, or whatever.

In jobjed's immortal words: "basically, be the node, not the terminal; do not be the end stop of our information path, simply be a chain-link that connects us to the original source and we'll judge for ourselves everything else."
