But again that's the point: from all we know there is NO Type 001A. We are indeed not sure if it is a Type 002 or Type 001 project 002, but surely much more likely Type 002 than Type 001A. Most of the friends I know in China are sure about it being indeed Type 002.

Therefore that argument several Western forums, even respected ones call it 001A is lame... in fact most respected firums already changed to 002.

The way I see it is that there’s at least has been official confirmation of 002. You may translate it as Type-002 or Carrier-002 or Number-002... Whatever you prefer to put in front of 002, the number has to be 002.

But one thing for sure, there has never been any official confirmation of 001A in any form what so ever. So, what’s the point of continuing supporting this number which we all know came from fans only.

Can we stop using our fans’ logic on naming the Chinese carrier after it’s been officially confirmed already? Doesn’t matter if that 002 is indeed 100% accurate. But at least it’s way more accurate than 001A. Don’t you think?

Exactly. At least have "002" in the thread name. We can dispense with 'Type' or 'Project' until further confirmation but for the love of God, get rid of "001A."

OK.........as this subject has been discussed quite a bit now.........the question is, is this forum at Sinodefence going to be brought into line with other military forums and change the title of discussion threads on Chinese carriers, so that the designation 001A is replaced by 002? The longer it carries on with not being changed the more confusion for everybody, and that includes people who quote from this forum when discussing the Chinese carriers in articles elsewhere?
Please get it right! :)

Yes.

And I asked you to forget the collocation "domestically" because it's confusing.

At the moment we have exactly two Chinese carriers:
  • 1st Chinese carrier 16 Liaoning and
  • 2nd Chinese carrier without known number and name
And we expect
  • 3rd Chinese CATOBAR carrier to be build in Shanghai

Jobjed...please stop with the flame bait...speaking of me having spite or stubbornness. I explained my reasoning and will make the change as soon as I see an official Chinese military post designating it as such. To date, those posts have not been "that" official.

In the mean time...any more flame bait will draw warnings and more if you keep it up.

Sorry if it is inappropriate to step in and I'm sure @jobjed never wanted to offend You but it is simply a fact that while you prefer to wait for an official mentioning of 002 we have confirmation that there is at least something related to 002 but nothing official in regard to 001A.

and this Thread is called "Type 002 (CV 18)" which is suspected to be the 3rd Chinese CATOBAR carrier, to be build in Shanghai ....
