Our own Popeye, who has spent 17-18 years on USN carriers, has said that the missile loading is much more efficient when it is done with manpower.

Sure automation is never easy. It's at prototype stage now, let's hope it is successful. Just like some are saying China's runway take off and landing reusable space delivery vehicle will fail as how the Space Shuttle was discontinued. Success normally comes after multiple failures.

The mecanum wheels look cool though.

We cannot dismiss how much automation had improved over the past years, seriously we got drones dropping packages on que at predesignated spots without missing a beat. This is off course not to disparage Popeye's past experiances on carriers, and we are still some ways away from actually getting package depot drones to work onboard flat tops. But it is still worth mentioning that what is true in the past does not necessarily hold water today.

Manual loading is faster. Off-course unlike a machines humans get tired but in a large aircraft carrier you rotate personnel. When it comes to tanks this different. Auto-loaders are slower than manual loaders, but the loader eventually will gets tired and in a prolonged battle situation, it can make a big difference. A bunch tank personnel told me, its like lifting wieghts. Eventually you get tired but an auto-loader does not have that limitation. But in an aircraft carrier you have a massive crew you can rotate.

The more crew members you have, the greater the logistics footprint will be and more space will have to be dedicated for those crew members. Plus the additional crew members can be funneled into other duties when automation is applied.
Of course in the present manual loading is still faster, but it is becoming less of a deciding factor when automation is steadily improving to be almost just as fast as a human loader but at half the necessary upkeep and space.

The problem with automated loaders is that with current technology, it'd be highly expensive and maintenance intensive (at the point, you might as well just keep the deck crew instead of the people needed to maintain the automated loader).

That Omni Directional Munitions Loader looks like its probably for loading heavy munitions, so that makes more sense than having it load AAMs.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) air force on Saturday released a promotional video and commemorative envelopes, recapping its recent flights over China's island of Taiwan.

The video was released in multiple languages including English, Japanese and Chinese dialects such as Minnan (southern Fujian) and Cantonese. The background music features several widely known Chinese patriotic songs.

The video is to let Chinese people of all ethnic groups, especially compatriots in Taiwan and overseas Chinese, understand that not a single inch of China will ever be separated from the motherland, according to the air force.

The photo and footage of the flights used in the video and on the envelopes are aerial shots taken by the PLA pilots during their cruising missions.

The inscription on the envelopes reads, "Taiwan, the Treasure Island, is harbored by our motherland. The motherland will always be in our heart. It is the sacred duty of any PLA pilot to safeguard the territory of our motherland."

"Every time we flew the H-6K bomber over the island, my comrades and I could clearly see the wonderful landscape of our motherland, before recording the scenes with cameras," said pilot Wu Yuepeng. "They're not only the witness to our efforts for a stronger country and a stronger military, but also witness to us carrying out missions in the new era."

"The island patrols of the PLA pilots were also to measure the landscape of China with flying trails," said Shen Jinke, spokesperson of the PLA air force.

He noted that the PLA air force had the resolve, faith, and capability to safeguard China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Since April 18, the air force has conducted a series of island patrols, in order to exercise and enhance its capabilities to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

an award.

This experiment provides a large number of key data support for the stage shaping of a certain aircraft, and also plays a good foundation for the new research project.

There is more potentially notable information there.

Hmm, the J-16 is in service, J-15D + J-16D in testing, Sharp Sword already completed development, FC-31 to become the next-gen naval design, Divine Eagle in testing, JH-XX possibly under development as well. So why is this OP disappointed?
