Feeling okay right now.

Latest scans show the tumors multiplying and increasing in size.

The good Lord want me to be here on earth a while longer. The Drs cannot say why things have gone as slow as they have and why I am not doing a lot worse.

I decided in Sept of 2016 to not do any more surgeries, clinical trials, or experimental treatments...though the docs want me to.

I have seen several friends who ahve this disease (Sacral Chordoma) try them and spend months and onths being miserable, feeling like tey were dieing and in much worse pain...and then dieing a few months later anyway.

I decided since I was not feeling too horrible, to let myself feel as good as I could for as long as I could. At the time the Drs though I had 3-4 months left and that was 18 months ago.

So I count my blessings, thank God for the time I have. Spend as much tiome with family as I can, do work for my church...still work on some models and check SD and other sites.

I am grateful for those tender mercies.

And I am grateful from my friends here and I thank you Jura for asking.

God's speed to you and yors my friend!

...and I thank my Father in HEaven and His Son JEsus christ every day.

I can tell you have put an incredible effort in your review and I’m glad you were able to get it out so quickly. I wish you the absolute best and pray for your health.

We know the relative acoustic level of the 688 and 688i compared to other subs (this isn't secret knowledge anymore), and that is good enough to make comparisons and estimations.

Thank you my friend. I have enjoyd doing these for the last 14 years...and with my own work on projects like THAADS, the Virginia Class SSN, the old A-7 Crosair II, the converion of the Ohio SSN to the SSGN, and various other consulting jobs while working at SDRC (Structural Dynamics Research corporation) which I cannot go into, I have been able to add some of those insights (within limitations) to the outlook.

God speed my friend...and you keep Pri-Fly working right at all times! LOL!

Hi Jeff, it's been demonstrated over time that we have major differences of opinion but I can only agree with your sentiments to Dfangsaur above and wish for good US-Sino relations.

Thank you for your contributions to this forum, sharing your personal stories, and your example of great positive attitude in the face of serious health issues. I wish you the best and hope you will keep participating in the forum for a long time to come.
Pan, thank you for that. It is a great compliment and honor...despite whatever differences.

As I have to others, I can only wish God's very best to you and yours.

In the end, He has the final say and He knows the affairs of Man and has allowed for them all in His plan of salvation for mankind...which I know and testify extends to every person who ever has or ever will walk the face of this earth.

In the men time, getting togeher and equitably discussing these things is something we an all enjoy particapating in together.

As to my health...I have accepted it years ago and know that it is one of the challeneges I have been called to wrok my way through with faith, and with the help and love of friends, neighbors, and particularly my wonderful wife and children who have taught me more about life and love than anything else in my life short of God's own love.

Introduction:

For the last 14 years I have produced an annual review of the buildup and modernization of the Chinese Navy, the People's Liberation Army Navy, or "PLAN" as it is called. At the time these reviews started, the PLAN was just embarking on producing more modern vessels, and had acquired a carrier, the old Soviet Varyag, which was the second in their Kuznetsov class, but which was sitting unfinished in Ukraine due to the fall of the Soviet Union. The Chinese indicated at the time that they were buying it through a private company to make it into a casino, but any investigation of that company made it clear that it was a company for the PLAN and that the vessel was being bought by the PLAN. Some felt it was for study. I felt it was for refitting into an operational carrier...which they did.

In the last fourteen years we have now seen the PLAN go from a largely antiquated coastal defense force using mostly updated 1950s technology vessels, to a powerful, modern Navy using vessels surface vessels that compare in in function and technology to our own, and they have built so many of them that they are now clearly the second largest and most powerful Navy in the world, second only to the US Navy. But the PLAN is principally concentrated in th Western Pacific, and therefore has become equal in power and combat capabilities (except for a couple of critical areas which this report will examine) to our own Pacific based fleets. While it is true that with the Japanese, Korean, Australian and other allies in the Pacific, the overall advantage still lies with the western allies, the Chinese show no signs of slowing down their buildup and seem intent on reaching a point where their own fleet matches the combined capabilities of all of those fleets.

As far as the Varyag carrier is concerned, they commissioned the new carrier CV-16, Liaoning in 2012, and have been exercising her with a full load of SU-27 aircraft, which are modernized and upgraded, indigenous built versions of the Russian SU-33 aircraft...but which are better, and being built in larger numbers. Why? To equip more carriers. They launched their second carrier, the indigenous built CV-17 this last year and are building more.

This report will examine, as it has in the past, the principal surface warfare capabilities as well as the submarine capabilities of the PLAN, and their aviation assets.

Carriers:

From this writer's perspective, and as a result of conversing with many others and listening to the chatter that is available on the internet, it is clear that the Chinese have a goal of developing at least a six carrier fleet. To begin with this fleet will consist of the carriers they are building incrementally to ultimately attain their goal of having larger, nuclear powered carriers similar to our own. They are doing this in a three step process, the first of which has now almost reached completion with the building of two STOBAR (Short take off, barrier arrested recovery) which means they take off from a ski jump like the new UK Queen Elizabeth carriers but land with a cable recovery system backed up by a barrier, like our own.
As stated above, this has included the following two carriers:

CV-16 STOBAR, Liaoning launched tested, commissioned, and fully operation. Displacing about 65,000 tons and cabable of carrying 24 strike fighters.

CV-17 STOBAR, Launched, ready to start trials, which is an improved version of the first carrier at about 70,000 tons displacement and capable of carrying about 28 strike fighters.
@TerraN_EmpirE Somehow I missed you on my ping list and wanted to make sure you were added. This is my annual PLAN Report. God's speed to you my friend.

Thanks Jeff, just read the 2018 annual PLAN report, really awesome. I agree with most of you mentioned in the report.

TBH .... this report is way better than most who claimed "experts" (i.e Kanwa, etc)
Thank you my friend. I am honored by your compliment.

If the good Lord wills it, and I survive nother year...I will do one for 2019.

I honestly hoped to be able to live long enough to see CVBN-80, USS Enterrise be launched...but that is doubtful at this point...though it was doubtful two years ago that I would be oing this one.

Time will tell.

Feel free to share, either from here on SD, from my own page, or on the album at Flickr.

God's speed to you and yours!

Neither do I :D

But the speculated hierarchy goes like (noise levels: high to low) - 971, 688, Trafalgar, 688 (I), 971U/971M, 885, Virginia, Astute, Seawolf, 885M, Improved Virginia. Actual noise levels are classified.

Where did this hierarchy come from? The later ones seem off, especially the last "improved Virginia", which doesn't exist and is actually the name given to the proposed post-Block VII Virginia upgrade to become operational in the 2040s. Also, Seawolf/Virginia are considered to have essentially identical acoustic levels despite being in different classes so putting the entire Astute class in between them is trying to slice an unsliceable salami. Finally, nobody out here in the internet world has any clue about the relative acoustic level of the 885M aka "improved Yasen" so it shouldn't really even be placed in the hierarchy.
