Wouldn't the name (Wing Loong) be better translated to "Peterosaur", the dinosaur time flying reptiles? I mean if you once watched "Dinosaur Train" you know what they looked like in a cartoon.

I recall when the UAV first appeared, Wing Loong was described as the Chinese words for Pterodactyl, or maybe, Pterosaur.

Yes ... but why "better translated"? It is AFAIK its official name.

I recall when the UAV first appeared, Wing Loong was described as the Chinese words for Pterodactyl, or maybe, Pterosaur.

The same research institute (611) had two other drone programs named after dinosaur scientific names, too. Maybe the marketing director quit and his successor was not brought up to date.

The most hilarious thing is that the whole thing really looks like some kind of smartphone debut event

Maybe in the future we will see a J-20 debut event, the title phrase is: "This changes A2A combat. Again." LOL

Noting the very glitzy (US) style of the presentation, i feel the more important point is the clear that they have a very clear roadmap ahead - they are obviously making considerable inroads into the Armed and Recon UAV market globally, with each successive iteration more polished, competitive and well-armed... kudos to Chengdu

There seems to be a modified Wing Loong II project and another Wing Loong X winged cardboard wing(what is this?). Technically the latter does not represent any difficulty for the 611 Institute which has accumulated, according to the R & D documents, a sufficient volume of pre-studies in the field.
