Exported J-7

Camouflage patterns. Nice, you don't see that often with J-7s or J-8IIs.

Honestly I think these may not be J-7s but J-8IIs. Their nose seems a bit extended and their wings even more acutely swept.

Thanks crobato. It would be good news if Zimbabwe has the J-8II. However, I have measured the planes there and they are much smaller than the J-8 in length.

Now, is you look at the 3 infront of the hanger, the second (middle plane), is that a missile beside the right wing?

This is on Google Earth, location 19°26'34.18"S 29°51'12.18"E. Looking at the two F-7s between the hangers, do they look different or is it that the resolution is not good enough? If they are different, can anybody indetify the two verisions? The one to the south seems to have a shorter wingspan.

Thanks.

Nice pic, thanks for posting!:) Seems like those things are pretty serviceable. By the way, If you look at the bottom right-hand croner, there is what looks like a smaller plane next to the F-7s. Anyone know what it is? Probably a flight trainer.
J-8IIs tend to have much longer and slimmer fuselages., with the wings placed further at the back. The planes in the pic appear to have more stocky fuselages, like J-7s normally do.

Y\SUwY!
2 F-7 delivered to Namibia. So, F-7s are still doing really well in the export market. I guess they are still going to have a make shift J-7 line even after this year. That will normally produce J-10s but will shift to J-7 when an export order comes in.

Thanks for the post. Does it say FT-7NG? I take it the two are trainers? Meaning the bulk of the jets are still to follow? I have checked the specs for the F-7G, but have you got any info F7-NG?

yeah, it does say that. I have a suspicions they have all been delivered, because Bangladesh ordered them later and already got them. The thing is, it seems like these F-7 and K-8 deals are signed without the public even knowing about them. As for specs, you can check the specs of F-7PG.

Had forgotten my password and have a new email address so I have had to re-register.

I have stumbled across a bit more in on the 12 F-7s Zimbabwe got two years ago. Apparently F-7 MG. Yippee! Check the end of this article:

pngwerume, for your information, there's a nice article about Chinese fighter serving abroad:战绩辉煌却鲜为人知:中国战机海外服役全史
----Brilliant success but little recognized: full history of Chinese war plane serving abroad

You can find it online here:

This article was published in a well respected Chinese magazine 国际展望----international view. Actually the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin hand wrote the title of this magazine. There's a part about Zimbabwe:

Let me translate it for you:

Zimbabwe

In 1986, Zimbabwe Air Force recieved 14 J-7s and formed the 5th Fighter Squadron, code-named "Arrow." This includes 12 J-7II and J-7IIN, plus 2 TJ-7BZ. Initially, these J-7 fighters were manned by Pakistani pilots. Shortly afterwards, Zimbabwe Air Force trained a sufficient number of experienced pilots to take over the Pakistanis.

In 1998, Zimbabwe involved in the civil war of Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo (Kinshasa)). Her Army and Air Force fighters participated in the combats together with Congo(Kinshasa)'s anti-government force. J-7s were very active.

At present, there are approximately 6 J-7s serving in the Air Force of Zimbabwe, who urgently need a new type of fighters. Outside observers generally believe the JF-17 with low price and excellent performance is very likely to win the contract.

At present, Zimbabwe and Pakistan have very close relationship. During July 16-20 2005, Pakistan Air Force chief Karim Sadat had a five-day visit to Zimbabwe. During his visit, Sadat said they would continue to support the building of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, including the provision of training equipment and sending officers and technicians to help in training Zimbabwe personnels. Considering Pakistani Prime Minister's visit to Malaysia two months ago (that is June 2005----szbd), when he announced Pakistan will provide the JF-17 prototype for evaluation, General Sadat's visit to Zimbabwe is likely for marketing JF-17.

Do you have any pictures of AFZ F-7s

Very few and not the best quality photos. The white ones is the old colour scheme and lately they seem to have been repainted (or a later batch) with a two-tone scheme. In the photo dominated by the Il-76, there is an F-7 on the ground, between the 1st & 2nd officers from the left.

Numbers 730 & 731 are the two FT-7s they have.
