Normal debugging process since this is their first large commercial jet It might take a bit longer .Here is the video

But to admit, maiden flight in May 2017 and since then NOTHING, no additional flight is not "normal debugging" esp. given the experiences with the A.320-facility. The equally nee Russian MS-21 already had several more flights only a few weeks after maiden flight .. so IMO even if I don't know what's wrong, it is far from a regular progress.

Russia has been building large passenger jet for more than 30 or 40 years they have the people, confidence and more importantly experience in assembling and testing Where any problem crop up can be quickly identified and rectified

If you are newbie in this field it will take longer since you don't have experience, industrial base or technician familiar with it

That is normal in any new technology. Plus the Chinese tend to be overcautious because failure is not an option
So they take their time

The fact that they announce that testing will continue show that they are now ready to resume testing

Look it took them 18 years to design J10 The US design F 16
RFP was issued in 1972 first test first flight 1974 and IOC 1978 so total 6 years!

Carrier program it took them close to decade to finish Liaoning!

Captain
C919 will begin a series of test flights within the week, according to a co-pilot of C919's test crew. As Deino's post showed, C919 had already conducted a high-speed taxi on August 6 on Pudong Airport's no.5 runway that was recently completed. The focus of the taxi test was the landing gear braking system.

C919 had to fly from runway no.4 runway for its first flight because no.5 wasn't complete, and that significantly impacted Pudong's day-to-day operations.

On August 4, the flight crew of the first C919 attended a

that the C919 is planning to fly to another testing facility and will conduct many test flights to establish the parameters of a safe long-distance flight.

We can deduce from this that the long hiatus in test flights was due to the need for modifications to allow the C919 to fly to a faraway testing location.

Any info on why after the maiden flight in June no additional flights were done ?

As far as I know the Russian MS-21 already accomplished its preliminary flight testing last weeks or so.

According to Jobjed's post,

Seems like, they only continued testing when runway no. 5 was completed so as not to impact day-to-day operation of runway No. 4.
