The public carrier tour started today, the process looks like:
Visitors board the ship through the forward elevator gate with help of a barge

I was just thinking if this was in the US a lot of visitors could not make it up those ladders . Why? Lots of obese folks in the USA.

Apparently there is no embarkation sponson or permanent ladder aboard CV-16....Or perhaps this method of bring aboard visitors was prefered.

On the JFK and Nimitz also when we anchored out we used "Deck House Four" to leave and return on liberty when anchored out. Now-a-days a large bumper is on the aft end of a Nimitz class which is used by tugs to maneuver the ship..Deck House Four is still used.

Hi all,

The video is here. In Cantonese of course. It talks about the first batch of citizens of HK boarding the CV-16.

Some of the J-15s are folded while some are at full wingspan, part of the missiles are covered with canvas, most probably due to the grizzly weather or due to its weapon secrecy. Some of the carrier-borne Z-9 helicopters and Medi-helicopter Z-18 are also having some of their parts been covered up by canvas.

Citizens are allowed to take pictures unrestricted although it was said earlier it wasnt allowed. All citizens are allowed to be able to take pictures of the J-15s at a safe distance! The carrier officers and sailors are also part of the subjects for most.

The first interviewee was happy to be able to board the CV-16 while Liaoning was still undergoing renovations in her earlier days as Varyag, she hoped that one day she could board it and now there she is onboard the CV-16! She commented that she is overjoyed with excitement.

The second interviewee, the boy, was thankful to his father for queuing up for the boarding passes. He also commented that upon coming up from the hangar lift, a Colonel handed a cap to him which made him a happy boy.

The third interviewee, a lady Second Class Private, commented that seeing the HK citizens are like seeing her own family members.

Next, the reporter explains on the history of CV-16. Then the scene skips to the introduction of the boarding procedures. The next interviewee comments that mobile phone chargers were not allowed but she didnt realized it.

Some souvenirs of CV-16 are also open for sales.

(With that, I will stop the spoilers here and let the rest "feel" the clip itself on the visitation of other carrier escorts and the PLA HK Garrison Open House.)

This clip is about the Open House visit on CV-16's hangar, with a cocktail reception.

There is a close up footage of the folded wingspan of a parked J-15.

The hangar looks huge! (Viewer discretion is advised due to low quality smart phone videos with handshaking scenes, may caused dizziness.)

From the video, it seems that only certain invited guests, since they are well-dressed, are allowed on the reception.

I'm curious about the content of the bag which I guess the visitors were getting upon arrival (in the red rectangle below):

(I think it would be a bizarre coincidence if so many people came with the same bag)
LOL I think I found it now:
