Remember the passenger liner ( which was it, some eighty years ago ) that needed three smoke stacks but the designer or the future owner wanted four so a fake smoke stack was added and IIRC it was use to provide a smoking room.
I hope you're not suggesting one of the smoke stacks on 901 is there for cosmetic purposes or something but that's a little bit ridiculous...
Certainly not. The prospective owner would consider this unacceptable. But there is also an artistic component to the creativity of the naval architect.
I would hope a naval architect would not burden his ship with unnecessary accessories in order to increase her beauty.
There was a lot more than one passenger liner that had a fake funnel for appearance sake.
On most of the high prestige 4 stackers and 3 stackers transatlantic liners built 1910-1940, the last stack was fake.

THAT is a GREAT and OUTSTANDING pic.
The PLAN is already working that vessel up to doing its principle job, and it is not even commissioned yet.
