Ma Weiming proposed a revolutionary model for China's next generation warship. In his model, air defense for the new warship consists of three layers:
1) Within 200-600 km, rail gun launched missiles take care of missile defence.
2) Within 10-200 km, rail guns intercept incoming missiles.
3) Within 10 km, high-powered lasers provide point defence.

He also proposed using coil guns for intercepting submarines and torpedoes. Not sure how that'll work.

I have a serious question to those familiar with PLAN operations. Why all the shouting?
I can honestly say every single video I have seen, the sailors are literally shouting into their headgear or to the guy 3 ft away!!

Yeah, that shouting is quite annoying. Same like during drills when the soldiers do not look relaxed and professional like western troops, but kinda like if they are doing parade rehearsals, with very ceremonial/formal robotic sudden movements (lke mortar- and artillery crews doing sudden 90 degrees axis turns with eyes strictly fixed at one direction) and absolutely no indication of situational awareness. You know what I'm talking about.

But this seems to be a kinda asian thing. We see Taiwanese, Japanese and also even South Korean troops behaving the same during drills, albeit the Japanese and South Korean sailors look far more relaxed and routined with their operations, with no shouting and formalism in the CIC.

This seems to be an experience problem with China. Troops will learn not to move like robots and shout like during a formal drill once the bullets start impacting besides them and IEDs can blow up anytime around them. As such, I wonder how much the Mali and South Sudan UN troops will bring in their experience.
