However, ZRZY's statement about the photo of J-15 being behind what he believes to be the EM cat thus suggesting ...

FatFreddy is right.
ZRZY assessment is incredible and very insightful.

You missed his words < more likely use ... will be equipped with EM cat ready by end of 2017. >

If both Steam cat and EM cat are equally ready, and then ...

If you are aware of the huge differences in terms of maintenance and reliability between Steam cat and EM cat, then it would be very logical if CV-18 / 002 installs EM cat.

It was definitely misleading to claim that Steam cat is more reliable and easier to maintain than EM cat.

In term of installing Steam cat and EM cat, there is no such thing is Frozen Interior Design.

IIRC, one more critical thing that many watcher had missed, is superstar scientist and inventor MWM had already successfully manufactured ( Simultaneous AC + DC generators and motors ) in yr 2006.

At that time in 2006, globally, no other scientist have ever written any paper on ( Simultaneous AC + DC generators and motors ), let alone working prototype and production device. They all think it is impossible.

The benefit of using ( Simultaneous AC + DC generators and motors ) compares to conventional generators and motors are drastic in terms Power Consumption, Cooling, and Smooth Variable Force Output at any setting for launching Swarming Interconnecting Drones with different weight.

Why would PLAN brass limit and restrain the performance of CV-18, just because the PLAN Steam cat is ready to go 5 yrs ago ?

....None of that supports the part of the post I have my problem with.

The part I have a problem with is this: "Thus, it is more likely CV-002 or CV-18 will be equipped with EMAL Cat, because EMAL cat and J-15A are ready for service by end of 2017."

The post itself that you quoted is not bad, but there is no reason to suggest that 002 will be equipped with the EM catapult over the steam catapult at this stage based on the evidence and rumours that we have.

Right now the best and most logical position we can take on this matter is "we don't know".

Oh no, how did my post come out this way? I posted and went away without checking.

I wanted to say the wider catapult could as well be the EM type because of the need of structural support for the conductors all along the whole length of the catapult due to the large force needed to accelerate the projectile.

one thing I want to remind is "do not fixate on the location of the J-15 in the catapult photo".

The J-15 can move easily, the photo is a snap-shot of a moment, we don't know which catapult launched it, or both.

The first "leaker" said it was EM launch, maybe he saw it happening with his own eyes, or maybe he assumes it from a distance. We can't tell.

To be honest you would think that is very common sense, one only has to simulate in their mind what has gone on in that site before that photo and after that photo and use some logic to envisage what this satellite photo actually means in context.

But I would not be surprised if some people took that photo and tried to use that as direct evidence or proof of something in relation to the rumour when it is merely adding support and plausibility to the rumour isntesad.

exactly, it is common to many to interpret evidence to their liking instead of accepting all possibilities from the evidence.

Btw, in regards to this part of the post, I imagine this is the sort of development that they would hear through the grapevine via insiders.

It is not likely for anyone who is not military/govt to have been able to literally see a successful launch from Huangdicun (which we should remember is a fully functional, fairly isolated naval air facility).

Instead, what's more likely I think is that such a successful launch would've occurred (unobserved by anybody who is not military/govt) and instead was filtered down through the various contacts semi-deliberately and relayed to cao gen who then told us.

now, two photos I find interesting to compare.
The first photo has J-15 and the exhaust deflactors down (see the white markings around them).
The second photo dos not show the markings of both deflactors.

Does that mean that the deflactors were all raised in the second photo?
If so, does that mean both catapults were being tested.
And so, it is possible that J-15 has been launched from both catapults regardless which is EM or Steam.
BTW, I have not decided the types of the two catapults. Though that is not my current interests.
