I watched the video and I saw something disconcerting for the Russians. Something is amiss with ADM"K"..that black stack exhaust is a sign something is wrong with their boilers. A former sailor, boiler tech, once explained it at mp.net. I cannot remember what he posted I just know it is not good.

When I served aboard USS Hancock(CVA 19) she belched black exhaust like that and eventually lost all power twice while I was aboard.

While it is an impressive site to see the Kuznetsov with the Peter the Great, a Udaloy DDG, the Steregushiy FFG, and a AOR together...the strikingly small number of aircraft on the carrier is also very obvious.

IMHO, deploying the carrier on its very first true combat operation (after 26 years) with an airwing which may be made up of something around 12 strike aircraft strike aircraft says as much about Russia's current state of affairs as anything else.

I agree Jeff. I see only six aircraft on deck. Maybe there's another six to 10(?) in the hangar. The Russian logistic ablity to re-arm and resupply ADM"K" at sea is very, very limited. The Russian cannot UNREP side to side. They do it stern to bow.... and I've never seen any photos of a Russian VERTREP. We shall see how they handle this deployment.
