Hangar for NH-90
Sea Fire 500 radar range max 500 km very good Herakles on FREMM 200 km max a difference...
Hull, towed sonars and towed linear antenna

So very good sensors but SAM loads limited see recently attack against DDG Mason close Yemen...and FFG of 1st rank but 2nd class in very dangerous area to use in TG/TF.
But undoubtely clearly more capable then a La Fayette.

For SAM number don' t forget also missiles in VLS except maybe on Ticonderoga and first Burke which have a small crane CAN' T RELOAD AT SEA it is a HUGE PROBLEM the port are not always close... only USN have an enough big number of port in the world, for refuel is not a problem in all aliies ports it is possible but more specials for ammunitions only some ports have deposits protected etc. with crane for do it...

This reloading problem for VLS is Undoubtely a problem to fix, right now only a solution a big, decent missiles loads.

Laucher with magazine can be not easy reloaded at sea but VLS allow a more big rate of fire, also now is is a standard and missiles in canisters allow a logistic more easy.

Armament for different variants

Along with the US Zumwalt destroyers are we seeing more new class of warships going back to the dreadnot bow design?
Different a true inverted bow, FTI vertical, for Zumwalt many crtitics the ship could capsize according to some and finaly she do excellent trials no problems even with quite tight turns, but by
precaution tight corners ar not allowed by USN i have read on magazine.

And waiting for few weeks an article in a magazine about new FT,I on internet amazing many things very fast sometimes almost in live, for free in more ! but nothing want a magazine, book " in paper " for get the right points, détails...

Rafale's new targeting pod gets airborne
A key sensor update for the Dassault Rafale’s in-development F3R software standard is on track to deliver enhanced capability from mid-2018, according to Thales.

Disclosing first details of an ongoing test campaign involving its targeting long-range identification optronic system (TALIOS) pod, Thales says the payload has been successfully flown using a Dassault Mirage 2000 testbed and a single-seat Rafale.

Referring to a first test with the Rafale conducted earlier this year, the company says the pod’s electro-optical/infrared sensors “collected high-quality images taken during the ‘day’ channel” on the 2h sortie, which was flown from the DGA defence procurement agency’s Istres test site in the south of France.

Thales has so far secured an order for 20 TALIOS pods – previously referred to as the PDL-NG – from an expected 45 to be acquired for the French air force and navy. Series production of the system will begin in 2018, following the completion of performance measurement tests next year, the company says.

According to the manufacturer, the new pod’s capabilities will range from “[supporting] deep strike with precision-guided munitions to air-to-air target identification and close air support” by day and night.

The Rafale’s F3R standard – which will introduce capabilities including the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile – is due to achieve operational readiness in mid-2018.
