Terrorism against Chinese targets

That's admirable but pretty much a pipe dream when members of at least the US military/think tank/foreign policy community are openly advocating support for terrorists to use against other countries.
There are those that do...to our shame. but there are plenty of us that do not and in many ways, this election is about those types of things.

Let me add something here I would personally LOVE to see.

These Islamic Terrorists are attacking the US, Russia, China, France, and so many others.

I'd love to see the US, China, Russia, and France put aside their other differences and go whole hog into fighting the Islamic Terrorists together.

it might even lead to better understanding and cooperation in other areas.

Imagine this:

A US Nuclear Carrier in the Med alongside the Kuznetsov (Russia) and the Charles de Gaulle (France).
Another US carrier near the Persian Gulf alongside the Liaoning (China).

And all five of these carriers working together to attack and destroy ISIS and Al Qaeda in Syria and Irag.

Leaving US allies (Kurds)and Russian allies (Syria) alone they do..

That's something that could be worked out...and I believe a President Trump would buy into it...I doubt Hillary would.

I'd love to see it in order to:

1) Eradicate the animals like ISIS and AL Qaeda or any of their affiliates in Stira and Iraq.
2) Help lead to better understanding and work on other issues where we differ.

JEFF, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, EVER.

For many reasons, US is the one who often ferment terrorists groups in potential adversary countries, and use it against them or to use these "state-less operator" to the US's geo-political advantages. It is the reason why US

in the first place because Assad is the obstacle US wants to get rid of but can't do so openly.

For that reason alone, how can Russia or China to trust US who is the world's largest terrorists sponsor?

For China, China has been decrying US's support of islamic terrorist groups inside China for years, and US has always refused to add those terrorists group to the terror list and even helped and sheltered those terrorist leaders inside US. For China to work with US, US first must come clean and hand back all those terrorists China demanded.

But that will never happen. Because that would mean US losing their leverage against China or Russia. But as the old saying goes, who plays with the fire will always get burnt with fire.

Guys, this was not meant to be an opening to take out anti-American sentiments on.

I was an honest sentiment...and there are a lot of Americans who would support it.

There are establishment politicians and others who would not.

But...and remember you heard it here...this election in the US this fall will impact sentiments like this. A LOT of Americans are sick and tired of the establishment types who believe they know better than everyone else, and who believe they can continue to lie every four years (or two years in Congress, or six in the Senate) to get money and votes, and then go on and do whatever they want.

A non-politician is running this time...and he is (though crass, and though politically incorrect) saying things and pointing out things that many of us feel about the existing political class and we are ready to turn them out.

I pray we can. If we can, it will make (IMHO) a difference for the good here in the states and throughout the world.

But that's as far as I will go into the politics of it.

But it might just make something like I just proposed possible.

Jeff described a good image but I honestly believe that non of us in this forum will live long enough to happen. For one thing, China's primary if not the only terrorist threat is Uyghur terrorists, their political wings are comfortably living in major western countries including US, Germany and Sweden, to name a few. Their armed wings live in and operate from one NATO member state Turkey, and fought shoulder to shoulder with rebels whom US backs and still refuse to disconnect from or to distinguish (Russian demands) from Al-Nusra Front aka Jabhat Fateh al-Sham. Just can see how cooperation is possible.

I am very pessimistic about any policy change from US side if Hilary Clinton becomes the president as she was and still is the main supporter to these "rebels" which the Uyghur terrorists are member of.

I am not so sure about Trump, but I don't bet any fundamental change because my understanding of US institution is that the president is only one of many power-holders regardless the title of commander in chief. That is also why I don't blame Obama alone for the mess we are seeing, and feel sorry for him, but that is another subject.

Just saw Jeff's post 263, so I would like to add some extra words. We should not let this cooperation suggestion slide to another "anti-someone" path. On the other hand, providing insights of the complicated political and strategic games do help us to understand why the terrorists epidemic today lasts for so long and not ending in the near future.

I love your optimism Jeff, but I believe Islamic terrorist is more fundamental and geopolitically complicated than that.

1. One side just can't unilaterally decide who is and who's NOT a terrorist.
2. Islamic terrorists are more about religious war than anything.
3. ISIS and Al Qaeda are more likely into fighting against the Western nations than China because that's where the current power at be are deciding the fate of their country (NATO, Arab League, Opec, etc.).

Suicide bombing attempt in Xinjiang. Terrorists shot dead by police after they killed one and injured three by running a car into a government building and setting off explosives.

Attackers have driven a car into a government building in China's unruly far western region of Xinjiang and set off an explosive device killing one person, while all four of the attackers were shot dead, the regional government said.

Can't help but notice the disgraceful reporting from the BBC though.

Chinese police kill four after Xinjiang attack

Chinese police have shot dead four people who attacked a Communist Party building in western Xinjiang province, local government officials say.

The four drove a vehicle into the compound in Karakax county, and set off explosives that killed one person and injured three others, they said. State media said it was a terrorist attack.

Imagine if the media reported the Lee Rigby killing in the 'BBC fashion'

British police shoots two after Woolwich attack

British police have shot two people who attacked a Labour party supporter in east London, local government officials say.

The two attacked a pedestrian with knives fatally wounding him. British state-controlled media said it was a terrorist attack.

Watching true journalism die and the BBC turn from one of the best media organizations in the world into the trash it is today over the past decade is heartbreaking.

Was just about to post this, but that was actually not the most reprehensible part of this propaganda piece. Rather what I find absolutely sickening is this part:

State news agency Xinhua did not specify whether the four people were killed by authorities on the spot or later in the day.

What kind of totally made up BS loaded question is this?

Obviously the cretins at the BBC thought a bunch of terrorists nut jobs getting shot by police after launching a terrorist attack isn't going to be all that useful to use to demonise China, so they are all but begging the terrorist spokespeople they always insist on getting to comment on such matters to fabricate a story about how the dead were either executed by police after being arrest, or just some randoms the people shot in retaliation.

China should seriously consider listing the BBC as a sponsor of terrorism organisation if it keeps behaving in such a deplorable manner.

China slams US sanctions on Iran for hurting Chinese businesses

China on Monday slammed a latest set of US sanctions against Iran for its ballistic missile program that included several Chinese individuals and companies, one of which has been shut down as a result of the sanctions.

"On the issue of sanctions, China has always opposed to any unilateral sanctions," Lu Kang, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), told a press briefing, adding that the Chinese government has noticed the inclusion of Chinese individuals and companies in the US sanctions list and has made representations over the matter to the US

"We think the practice of imposing unilateral sanctions at every turn, especially if they hurt the interests of a third party, is not conducive to enhancing mutual trust among relevant parties as well as cooperation among relevant parties to jointly address some global issues," Lu said.

Following reports of Iran testing a ballistic missile, the US Treasury Department on Friday announced new sanctions against the country. Those sanctions listed two Chinese companies and three individuals: Richard Yue and his company Cosailing Business Trade Co, Jack Qin and his company Ningbo New Century Import and Export, and Carol Zhou.

The US claimed that the listed Chinese individuals and companies supplied controlled dual-use technology and materials to an Iranian businessman who supports Iran's ballistic missile programs and military.

The US claims are "nonsense," Yue told the Global Times on Sunday, adding that his company never went through with a business deal for supplying "cloth and articles of daily use" to an Iranian company that contacted him three years ago.

"All that happened was the exchange of some e-mails [with an Iranian firm] and mailing of some prototypes [to Iran] three years ago … no transaction ever happened," Yue said, noting he had no choice but to close down his company based in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province, due to the US sanctions.

Three knife-wielding attackers have killed five people and injured another five in China's far western region of Xinjiang before police killed the "thugs", a regional government said, in the latest bout of violence on China's border with Central Asia.

The attack took place on Tuesday evening in Pishan county in the restive southern part of Xinjiang, the government of Hotan prefecture said in a short statement on its website early on Wednesday.

"At present, social order is normal at the site, society is stable, and investigation work is under way," it said, without giving further details about the attackers or their motive.

Hundreds of people have been killed in recent years in resource-rich Xinjiang, on the borders of central Asia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India, in violence between members of the ethnic Uighur minority and majority Han Chinese.

The government has blamed much of the unrest on separatist Islamist militants, although rights groups and exiles say anger at Chinese controls on the religion and culture of Muslim Uighurs is more to blame for the violence.

China denies any repression in Xinjiang.

Pishan, known as Guma in Uighur, has been the site of several security incidents in recent years. In 2011, police killed seven people they described as kidnappers who were members of a terror group.

Dilxat Raxit, spokesman for the World Uyghur Congress exile group, said the latest incident of what he described as Chinese repression meant there was no way for people to show peaceful dissent.

"Any provocation could lead to a clash," he said in an emailed statement.

There has been an uptick in violence in Xinjiang in recent weeks after a period of relative calm. In December, five people were killed when attackers drove a vehicle into a government building and police shot dead what authorities described as three terror suspects last month.

Hotan, a one-time Silk Road outpost, is considered part of the Uighur heartland, and has been at the frontline of what China terms its war on terror.

Earlier this month, the government said seven people, including six senior public security officials from Hotan and nearby Karakax county, were being investigated on suspicion of graft. All were Uighurs, judging by their names. [nL4N1FV3MP]
