Hey Brat I do not know whether you visit this thread, but on the asumption you do, what are your thoughts on what this Russian pilot think about the USAF in the the first 10 minutes of this oldish video.
This isn't just directed to Brat so anyone is free to comment if so desired.

Especially since 1898 US forces have fought many times to protect or extend the interests of their country but only in WWII its territory has been attacked, as in Pearl Harbour, or even occupied as in the Aleutian Islands. In both World Wars large parts of Russia were occupied. Beside in those wars the Russian forces saw very little action. So it is no wonder the attitude of designers and users of fighter aircraft in both countries is very different.

Killer airwaves: Russia starts trial of electromagnetic warfare system

Russia’s electronic warfare equipment producer launched tests of a tactical electromagnetic combat complex fully integrated with latest air-defense systems. It guarantees complete neutralization of all enemy electronics.

Factory testing is underway for components of the new system, capable of protecting troops and civilian facilities from air and space attacks, a representative of Russia’s leading producer of electronic warfare systems, Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET), told TASS. The tests are expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

Integrated with air defense systems and networks, the new complex “maintains automated real-time intelligence data exchange with the airspace defense task force” to facilitate centralized target distribution, the source said.

Solutions realized in the new complex ensure secure suppression of any existing and perspective airborne electronic equipment, making it impossible for the aircrafts and satellites to proceed with their missions.

It uses brand-new algorithms of electronic jamming with expanded combat capabilities and modernized command module design. The complex consists of multiple jamming modules exercising long-range impact on enemy command system with a powerful and complex digital signal.

“We’ve created multichannel information transmission system ensuring simultaneous electronic jamming of various systems,” KRET’s representative said.

Jamming modules serve as elements of a hierarchically-organized multilevel system, which “optimally distributes its energy, band and intellectual resource,” KRET’s press service cited the deputy general director, Igor Nasenkov.

Besides that, all modules are equipped with means of electronic self-defense, because they “they come as top-priority target for enemy’s primary attack,” Nasenkov said.

In November 2015, Nasenkov said that a new upcoming ground-based electronic defense system integrated with air defense system is going to be incorporating antisatellite capabilities.

The new jammer would render enemy precision weapons useless by suppressing guidance systems, including those relying on satellite signals.

New contract to be signed about the modernization of the BTRs

The new contract for the modernization of armored personnel carriers BTR-80 BTR-82AM

The portal of public procurement in June 2016 were laid nebezynteresnyesvedeniya the purchase of JSC "81 armored repair plant" (Armavir, Krasnodar region, the company is a part of JSC "Scientific and Production Corporation" Uralvagonzavod "Dzerzhinsky") from a single supplier the right to conclude a contract for the supply of the CI-126 tires in the amount of 2584 units. Bylzaklyuchen Contract with LLC "Investment Company" Amtel "(Moscow) in the amount of 82,606,399 rubles 44 kopecks, including VAT (the tires themselves KI-126 manufactured by JSC" Kirov Tyre Plant ", owned by Pirelli group).

Documentation on this contract can be concluded that the CI-126 tires are purchased as part of a new three-year state contract 81st BTRZ with the Russian Ministry of Defense number 1618187312061422241000270 of 21 April 2016 for modernization in the years 2016-2018 BTR-80 variant BTR-82AM. Given the fact that for every eight APCs need tires, it is easy to calculate that the contract provides for the modernization of 323 units. Including data, taking into account the bus delivery schedule CI-126 - in 2016, 78 armored personnel carriers (624 tires), 2017 100 BTR (bus 800) and the 2018 BTR 145 (1160 buses).

The correctness of these calculations confirmed subcontracting 81st BTRZ a modernization in the same state contract:

- Production and supply of batteries 12 ST-85RM: in 2016 - 156 units (set for two units on one APC - a total of 78 cars in this year).

- Supply of components for the BTR-82AM - 323 units. By year fighting in the lines: box relay KR40-3S rotating VKU330-2 contact device, the filter F-5 (the remaining difference).

- Manufacturing and delivery of rigging grid - 323 units.

- Production and supply of components to the spare parts - 323 units of each item.

Recall that in the prior three-year contract for the 2014-2016 years, signed April 21, 2014, 81 minutes BTRZ being upgraded to Ministry of Defense of Russia 316 BTR-80 variant of the BTR-82AM, including 120 units in 2014, 134 - in 2015 and 62 - in 2016. The total contract price is 6.77 billion rubles. For this 81-m BTRZ were purchased, respectively, CI-2528 bus 126 (including 960 tires in 2014 year).

In addition, 81 minutes BTRZ currently sells as a contract for the modernization of 17 BTR-80 armored personnel carriers in the option-82AM for the Russian Interior Ministry, which were purchased, respectively, 136 tires CI-126.

Russian vehicles based on the Armata Combat Platform to get new armor for urban warfare

Designers have created a new set of defensive plates that will protect tanks and wheeled combat vehicles against the most common types of weapons used in offensive attacks.

The wheels and tracks of the latest armored vehicles constructed on Russia’s Armata Universal Combat Platform, which includes a new tank, will be equipped with additional protective armor. The Russian Research Institute (NII) is developing the new hardware for the platform.

According to the developers, "plate shields," which are similar in appearance to the bars on metal bunk beds, will be installed along the perimeter of the machines. These shields will protect armored vehicles from cumulative grenades and anti-tank guided missiles — the most common threat to them in urban settings. The new shields are intended to deform the head of a grenade when it makes contact with the vehicle and divert part of the energy from the explosion.

Designers are skeptical of the plan, however, pointing out that the shields, or screens, are inferior to dynamic armor in combat performance.

"They are cheaper and technically simpler and increase engine protection and transmission by several times in the conditions of urban warfare,” said Dmitry Safonov, military correspondent for Izvestia, speaking about the shields. “A key drawback is their low versatility. The lattice screen will save the technology only from certain types of hand-held anti-tank grenades.”

The Russian Defense Ministry has already tested the lattice screens on the BTR-80, a wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier. An additional armor set has been installed on the perimeter of the body of the vehicle and has been tested to protect against chemical grenades. According to the developers, the test results show that the equipment can maintain its mobility and while cutting the effect of a striking grenade in half.

Russia's remote-controlled Tigr armored vehicle shows fire power

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. Russia’s military-industrial company VPK LLC has designed a remote-controlled version of the wheeled armored vehicle Tigr, armed with a 30-mm gun, CEO Aleksandr Krasovitsky told TASS in an interview.

"A new product will be rolled off the line that we haven’t mentioned before - a special purpose vehicle Tigr equipped with a combat module and a 30-mm automatic gun," he said.

Not only is this armored vehicle capable of moving and firing on an operator’s commands, it can also identify and track targets on its own.

"This machine has been developed in cooperation with our counterparts at the joint stock company 766 UPTK with permission from the Defense Ministry at its own expense," he said,

The Tigr’s combat module is identical in design and fire control system to the automatic remote-controlled combat module, armed with a 30-mm gun that was created for "Product Uran-9" (a robotic attack mechanism - TASS)," Krasovitsky said.

The newly-developed vehicle is unparalleled.

"We’ve managed to mount a 30-mm gun on a two-axle armored vehicle with a mass of under nine tonnes. The vehicle can use ordinary roads without any restrictions," Krasovtisky added.

The remote-controlled Tigr is currently undergoing test runs and firing tests, and has performed impressively so far. TASS publishes video footage of the armored vehicle's first tests.

there ya go, the number one reason we must have fifth gen fighters and bombers, though I personally am more concerned with, and believe the fighters should be a much higher priority. The long and the short of all this, is that during the Obama administration, relations have soured to the point that the "kold war" is now back in full force. Shameful
