The Ministry of Defense released incredibly footage of the next generation T-50 fifth generation fighter jet as well as a number of other high performance Russian aircrafts to celebrate Russia’s Aerospace Forces.
On Friday, the

published video footage of the PAK FA Sukhoi T-50 fifth-generation fighter jet to commemorate Russian Aerospace Force Day.

The super stealth fighter jet reaches a max speed of 1,516MPH (2,440kmh) with an astounding battle range of 3,418 miles with maneuverability and combat characteristics leading most defense analysts to deem the aircraft better than America’s F-22 Raptor which has long held the distinction as the most fearsome warplane to grace the skies.

The PAK FA T-50 has been somewhat controversial in Moscow circles due to its hefty unit cost, exceeding $50 million per aircraft, which far exceeds the cost of other Russian aircraft although coming in at a bargain basement price and with far greater capabilities when compared to the budgetary eyesore that is America’s F-35 stealth fighter. Not only does the T-50 have superior maneuverability compared to the F-35, but it also travels at a 30% higher speed with a range over 2,000 miles farther.

Although the debate rages on in Moscow whether the battlefield benefits of high-cost stealth aircraft technology is worth the money, the Russian Aerospace Forces will have the opportunity to put an initial purchase of a dozen such aircraft to the test in operational settings allowing Russia to garner more information before making a more expansive investment in the program.

In June, the T-50 was deemed by defense industry sources to have “reached a stage where it’s combat capable and ready for mass production and for use by the Russian Aerospace Forces.”

The incredible video footage provided by the Russian Defense Ministry features not only the PAK FA Sukhoi T-50 fighter jet, but also highlights the MiG29KUB naval fighter, Yak-130 advanced jet trainer, Su-35S fighter, Su-33 naval fighter, Tu-95 strategic bomber as well as the Strizhi and Russkiye Vityazi aerobatic performance teams.

Uh...so the Russians are declaring the prototypes IOC? Combat ready?

Where's the mass production then?

Right now, and last I heard, they were still planning on limiting intial production to like 50 aircraft.

The Russian releases to press are really sometimes over the top.

Actually Jeff the initial purchase will be 12 aircraft to populate a Test and Evaluation squadron??? and we still have not seen the dash two aircraft 6-2 first flighted and joining the test fleet??? pretty slim pickens, but the five test aircraft are all airworthy once again.

This is a bit a head-scratcher for me. MiG-31 variants don't have that marking but the MiG-29, Su-30 and Su-35S do have those markings right besides the radome o_O:confused:

Other than the MiG-29K all others are in-service planes.

I have to agree that these are anti-rad warnings - operational aircraft would not be carrying telemetry markings.

As further illustration of the in-accuracy of these Russian sources, look at the quote??

"most defence analysts have deemed the T-50 is "better" than the F-22???"

now who in their "right mind" would say something that ignorant???, nobody that's telling the truth. It would be one thing if they said "faster", or "more maneuverable with OVT", but in the real world, the Raptor with its awesome engines, Mach 1.8 supercruise, and real world L/O numbers, high altitude performance giving it a significant advantage over 4 gen, or 4+ gen aircraft, and sensor fusion and the ability to share discreetly with other F-22s, and potentially with upgrades F-35s, etc, etc.

In the real world the F-22 will remain the best into the foreseeable future, it is a total package. Now the T-50 has several outstanding aspects, but it is NO RAPTOR! just is NOT.

anyway, "what defense analysts??", and we all know the answer to that.

Here, let me help with the translation so it makes sense...

"most Russian fan boy analysts have deemed the T-50 "better" than the F-22

There...now it is a truthful statement.
That is not a truthful statement, but bias.

You can not compare both aircraft without manuals, test flights, combat operational tactics and pilot experience and training.

If you have ever seen historical accounts of combat aircraft for example Hellcat Versus Hayate, Corsair versus Shiden, Me-109 versus Spitfire, MiG-21 versus F-4, A-4 versus Harrier and so on, you will know such a coarse compassion is as invalid as the Russian statements are.

The Hayate for Example was an excellent aircraft, it was much better than the Hellcat, but it never operated in the ideal conditions it must had operated.
So it is not everything what is written in the manual.
Combat record also lies many things, you will find contradictory claims too.
It will depend who also makes the compassion, i have read F-5 assessments done in Russia, they say for example at some speeds the F-5 was better than the MiG-21 and MiG-23, and Israeli Assesments of MiG-21, they say practically the MiG-21 was better than the Mirage III but the Arab pilots were not using it efficiently.

For example tactics are also important the Zero was practically much more maneuverable than the Hellcat but it was flimsy and with hit and run tactics the F-6F was definitely superior, so if you were a Hellcat pilot the best tactic was hit and run, same tactic a MiG-23 would need against the F-16, or a F-15 against a MiG-29, so it is not like both of you are claiming, it is far more complex.

It also depends in the versions, some Fw-190 were superior to some Spitfire variants some were not, the FW-190A was superior only to some Spitfire versions, not all.

To claim now F-22 is superior to PAKFA now is as invalid as to do the opposite and claim PAKFA is superior.
