Respectful question: nations and NGOs regularly estimate other nation expenditures, so in your view, do their estimates have grounds?
In US, GB, France, Japan, Germany, South Korea etc - for sure!
my apologies Blackstone ... thats why !! ... I don't see Janiz postas as he is in my ignore list (the only one actually), I want to read useful posts only, obviously not biased and offensive posts
And I'm glad to be there as reading your posts like 'and the cost of a Patriot would be multiple times of the simple drones' doesn't add much to to any discussion :)

it seems the flight deck is complete for the 001A.

That video just shows pics that's already been posted.

And no, the flight deck is not fully complete because there are a few openings in the flight deck has not been sealed up yet.

Nope.

You can still see the large openings in the flight deck where they are still delivering equipment into the internal of the ship.

That all has to be covered.

Then, after that, there are numerous coatings that will be applied to protect the deck, and then give it its non-skid capabilities.

Also, a lot of railing and access ways, as well as the mechanics of various elevators, both for the aircraft and for munitions.

Lots to do yet...but the progress is good.

CVN 78 USS Ford: keel laying in Nov 2009, superlift of island in Jan 2013.
HMS Queen Elizabeth: keel laying in Jul 2009, superlift of fwd island in Mar 2013.

The Chinese are about twice as fast.

Given that the USS Ford and HMS Queen Elizabeth are the lead ships in their class while the 001A is based on the Liaoning even if it may be a modified design.

Fair enough, I suppose a fairer comparison would be a Nimitz class carrier, such as USS Ronald Reagan, where keel was laid down in February 1998 and whose island was lifted onto the ship in November 2000, with the ship being launched in July 2003.

Of course, there are still differences: USS Ronald Reagan was the 9th ship of its class and I'm sure Newport News would have been quite familiar with the class' construction having built many supercarriers before, whereas this is DL (and China's) first construction of a carrier from the keel up despite being based on an existing design. But OTOH the Nimitz class is also a larger and more complex ship than 001A...

All things considered, I think the pace of construction of 001A that we can see is still quite impressive, especially given it is not only DL's first carrier built from scratch but China's first carrier built from scratch as well.

Actually CVN-76 was commissioned in active service 12 July 2003. She was launched 04 March 2001.
