China's SCS Strategy Thread

That's probably the mildest criticism, but I don't think that's how it works for most of the journalists in this case. The notions are preconceived, the conclusion is already reached, you just need to pick the words to serve them.

If most of the journalists out there can just add some brief statements to "balance" the report, I would be Ok:

The PCA is not a UN court nor even a UN organization. It's an arbitration organization. Its ruling or awards are only binding if both parties agree to the arbitration, which China didn't. China's refusal to participate in the arbitration is based on relevant UNCLOS articles. China like many other countries declare the exclusion back in 1996 on sovereign matters.

Exactly! newspaper articles in western media always always note that any good news about China comes from "state-owned" news sources. I don't see how no one has caught that the PCA is not UN, especially that this thing has dragged on and on for a long long time. Why no one bothered to check? It must be intentional negligence to mislead the public.

Chinese Maritime police already started intercepting Filippino fishing vessels near the contested island.

Post your photos. And your family's. We'll take some laugh. Laughing at somebody who means something in the world while you don't is as mature as watching Chinese CCTV productions about Japanese....

Kings of jokes strike again.

Solarz, I understand your feeling toward this judge; however, such saying sounds like personal attack (toward the judge or the Japanese race). I don't think it's a good idea. You know those Vietnamese post bad words about China regarding the tribunal on my Facebook but what I don't like to see, I remove all their posts. That's all! We all know the rules of the forum. Hope you enjoy staying here. The Chinese government will deal with them.

interestingly China warns Australia against taking sides in South China Sea disputes
Beijing has lodged a diplomatic protest over Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop's comments on the South China Sea arbitration case and warned Canberra against taking sides in the territorial disputes.

Bishop had on 12 July called on China and the Philippines to abide by a Permanent Court of Arbitration ruling on the South China Sea territorial claims that was handed down on the same day. The tribunal, which was initiated by the Philippines in June 2013 to determine the legal basis of maritime rights asserted by Beijing, has ruled largely in favour of Manila.

"The Australian government calls on the Philippines and China to abide by the ruling, which is final and binding on both parties," said Bishop in her statement.
