This APC/IFV does not look like those Chinese series of vehicles. I think it is a Chinese attempted copy of the Pirhana armoured vehicles.

It looks more like “copy” of Boxer MRAV or Italian Puma... In any way it looks like modern and capable design but until we have some more info we can’t know how good it is...

This looks like a slimmed down leaner version of the Type 92. Maybe a universal 6x6 chassis design. The wheel locations, front gradient, and overall profile matches that of the Type 92 a lot. I can't tell from the photos if the rear access is just a door or a door set within what looks like the outline of a ramp?

hmmm

yes it looks like a copy ripped from some European design.

But remember...that new 4x4 APC that we've seen in limited service in PAP and UN service? That chassis could have easily been modified to 6x6.

No I don't think it will replace the Type-92 (because its chassis design lives on in the Type-05 IFV design).

But it will be quite an attractive export piece...I see its applications in the MIddle East (eg, Turkey or Pakistan).

In indigenous service, probably unlikely. But if it did, a new air borne wheeled AFV, ATGM platform, and probably recon as well. It looks more rugged and mobile than the Type-92, though probably doesn't offer a greater deal of protection. PAP is another candidate user.

Did you guys ever see the old 120mm/105mm SPATG? There use to be a large number of these designs, with different chassises. Maybe this is one of those chassises.

It's featured in the latest edition of Ordinance Knowledge. When I get home I can scan the Chinese article, I'm at a web cafe and don't have the magazine with me.

Haven't read the article in detail yet, but from what I gathered it is a new wheeled APC somewhat similar (in external appearance) to the new 4x4 wheeled APC, which probably means it is of the same (entirely new, from the ground up) family. Base protection is 7.62 mm all around but from the large frontal slope I'd bet it is far higher in the frontal arc. The variant featured in the article is armed with 12.7mm hmg plus 35mm AGL. Other possibilities were mentioned (up to 14.5 mm hmg). IIRC the vehicle is 16 tons, designed with airlift in mind. Max speed 105 km/h, 8 passenger+3 crew.

As with other new things, it's probably undergoing trials now, so whether PLA or PAP use it will have to wait. Of course it'll be offered for export.

Is it just me or does the pictures looks a bit like it is CGI??

Especially the first picture, it looks like it came out of a video game.

What? no video game has graphics THAT good. Not even halo 2:p

Its real. I wonder if this thing is being considered as a replacement for the 92, although that seems unlikely. The 92 isnt outdated, and many have been delivered already.

I think I know where he's coming from, saying the picture looks a little CGI.

I'd say it's mostly because of the "brightish angel" effect that kind of blurs things, a effect very commonly seen in say, wedding photos.

And I *think* the Xbox 360 is capable of pumping out graphics on this level... I *think*.
