32 HQ-16 is enough few for a big DDG as it 054A have same number.
New HQ-16C better any specifications ?

32 MR SAMs is actually on the light size for a ship of its size, but given the Sovs' vintage, its a nice capacity boost, and probably all that could be reasonably achieved without needing excessive restructuring work.

Recent projections are pretty much in line with my earlier expectations with regards to weapons fit, although I am still holding out for the new CCL VLC to allow greater weapons flexibility, especially quad packed short to medium range SAMs.

Although given how many 054As they have built, they may well be developing/have developed such a capacity for the old style 054A VLS, in which case the need for the new CCL is significantly diminished. With the small number of cells and lack of powerful new radars, HQ9s are probably a waste for the Sovs, similarly with just 32 cells, it doesn't leave a whole lot of spare cells to lug around LACMs after satisfying its own defensive missile load needs.

Any word on the hanger? Would be interesting to see if they could expand that to house two helos in a new permanent hanger, as opposed to the current tiny retractable single one.

i have never heard of HQ-16C before this. But I would imagine 32 HQ-16 is sufficient when considering how many the sovs had before this.

I am glad to see the hot launch VLC on those ships. Will the back turret be removed or replaced by newer ones?

Sure looks like VLS Cells there aft of the helo deck to me.

Hard to say how many VLS cells are there, but if they are the new ones, they may carry YJ-18 anti-ship missiles, HQ-9 SAMs or CJ-10 land attack cruise missiles

This is going to be a strong upgrade for the Chinese Sovs.

Sufficient maybe but a loadout inferior of 1/3 in missiles, more big rate of fire before each Shtil 10 miss/mn Chinese VLS ? but in general minimum 30 important number remains limited by radar capacity a combattants can't engaged simult 30 targets... old radars remains ? 6 each a target simult.

But with this more small weapons load one ex if for counter an attack the ships use 10 miss can for 3 now before 5 attacks less persistence on the battlefield...

Yes rumors for YJ-18 after ?
HQ-16 expected but maybe a more big VLS different mainly for diameter for host YJ-18 necessary...

054A, VLS HHQ-16 have cell of 0.34 m and 052D universal VLS 0.85 cm a difference... but in this case maybe possibly quad-packed DK-10A, PL-12 variant quadpacked as ESSM.
